My my, such controversy over this product! Used with first DD and loved it. The part of the product that goes behind the baby is paper thin - WILL NOT compress in an accident (insert eyeroll here). I can't believe people are suggesting that it would be safer to roll up receiving blankets and place on the sides of the baby's head - seriously? THEY can unravel, easily move around, and are not meant for that purpose. Any parent with half a brain can see that this product is perfectly safe and doesn't interfere with the seat or harness in any way, and I just don't accept the oppinions of "experts" who say otherwise - they are not speaking from first-hand experience or knowledge of the specific product. They are making blanket statements about all after-market products.
Until someone shows me EVIDENCE of this product causing harm to an infant in a crash, I will not be listening to the nay-sayers or the "experts". Give me evidence - don't just tell me you're an expert and expect me to follow blindly. Once I see that evidence, I will gladly change my review.

With my first child I went crazy looking for a way to keep her head up when she was a newborn. The pillows that come with the car seats do NOT work. I bought the double pillows, her head will still go forward once she fell asleep. I got the cute pillow that goes around the neck...worse!!! Then, I saw this when I was looking for stuff for my second child...LIFE SAVER!!!!!! It cradles their whole body and the NEVER went forward!!! I was only able to use it until the baby was 7 months old, after that he was too long and did not work properly. It worked fine until he reached 30 inches.
It is meant for infants and it works. By the time I was not able to use it he had more control of his head and setting the belt properly in the car seat keeps the head up. Just put a bib over the buckle to avoid marking the chin with the buckle.

We bought this after taking our son home from the hospital and having him slouched so much in his carseat that I was worried he couldn't breathe. After putting the Snuzzler into his carseat (without the head support--he didn't need that) he was comfortable and positioned correctly. Now he loves to sit in his carseat and sleeps almost as soon as he's buckled in.
As others have noted, your kiddo won't use this (in the carseat at least) for very long--he was 6.3lbs at birth and my guess is he will stop using it by 8 weeks old. However, my son likes the head part to be put in his bouncer and I will use the body portion for the bouncer and his stroller once it's not used in his carseat.
Considering this only cost me $14, it was a huge bargain and a terrific purchase.

As with all aftermarket items for car seats, this one is not safe. Why? It has not been tested for safety with your car seat, and does not allow the straps of your car seat to fully tighten. Yes, they may feel tight, but in a crash, the comfy and cushy material will compress, leaving the straps so loose that they might as well not have been buckled in the first place.
If you need to keep your little one's head straight in your car seat until they are less floppy and a bit bigger, the approved method is to take a couple of receiving blankets (Way cheaper than this thing btw.), roll them up tight, and place them alongside your infants head. This way, your precious cargo stays both upright, and SAFE!

Please listen to mine and other reviews that are saying these products are not safe when used in the car seat. I was about to buy and then I attended a car seat saftey class at the health center in my city. They, the certified instructor, said that if used during a head on crash, the the padding of the product compresses so much, the baby is more likely (which is translated in my book to 'will') slide out. They demonstrated by putting the snuzzlerin the car seat, strapping in a mannequin baby, and then the instructor took away the snuzzler from underneath the baby. The straps loose enough that the baby slid out with a little tug.
So use only to keep cozy in the stroller, NEVER use in a car seat.
