Baby Products Reviews of Kidco PeaPod Plus Indoor/Outdoor Travel Bed, RedCustomer Review: Not so great for active toddlers Summary: 3 Stars
The Peapod Plus was great when our daughter was an infant and not a toddler daredevil. Before she could even walk, she figured out that by rolling fast to either side she can roll from the mattress onto the side of the tent and almost tip the thing over. While rolling it around is a fun game for her and is safe while I'm around - she's in no danger of suffocation or injury - she can't sleep in the tent. She gets excited and thinks it's time to play. She also likes to jump or walk on top of it to make it flat. The tent is comparable to a blanket fort over chairs for her.
If you have a child who is too big for a bassinet or small-sided travel bed but is too young to stay put in a bed with no railing/side, don't purchase this for them to sleep in.
Customer Review: Not just for travel Summary: 5 Stars
We absolutely love our peapod. We actually setup ours up in the nursery so our daughter could play with it anytime she wants. Our only complain is that it still takes up a fair amount of room when collapse for travel. The other complaint is that the sleeping bag it came with isn't warm or soft. That's fine, we just put a folded blanket in the bottom of the tent instead.
We have had our tent since my daughter was first born and she's 15 months now, and the tent is still in perfect condition even though it is used for play daily. Before my daughter was mobile I used a magnet to hang toys from the top of the tent and laid her in the tent. Then she could reach up and pull the toys off or kick the side of the tent and watch them move. It was awesome!
Customer Review: Peapod so much better than a play pen! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the peapods because we are going to be travelling cross country and figured we wanted something smaller, more compact, and easier to set up than a play pen. The pea pods are awesome! Our 2 year old knows how to scale the play pen, but he can't escape from the peapod! Our 9 month old loves sleeping and playing inside. They come with the air mattress and a sleeping bag. We just use the sleeping bag for more padding, because the kids have their own "blankys". It comes with a air pump, but it's easier just to blow up by mouth we found. The pea pod is simple to take down too. Just read the directions, and it's down in 10 seconds. This is way more convienient than a playpen, and takes up much less space. We highly recommend this product!
Customer Review: Great travel bed Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this for our 13 month old because she will no longer sleep in a pack and play when we are away from home. I was very pleased that she slept well in it the 2 nights we were away. The tent set up easily and I used a jersey knit crib sheet on the mattress and put it inside of the tent since she is too young for the sleeping bag. This worked out wonderfully. The tent provided more sleep space than the Pack and Play, but my daughter is a very restless sleeper and she did roll into the sides quite often. It is a tent so that was noisy, but it didn't disturb her sleep. Packing the tent up was very easy. I just took my time and carefully followed the photo directions and it folded perfectly. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Customer Review: Great for travel Summary: 4 Stars
We've had our PeaPod for about a year now. We have a 2 year old and a 1 year old and the thought of 2 pack n plays gave me nightmares. This is very easy to travel with and the kids (even our 5 year old uses it from time to time) sleep well in it. I still have the 1 year old in a pack n play just to keep him more contained. My only complaint is that the nylon is a bit loud if they rub on it, but it doesn't seem to be an issue for the kids, just parents nervous about him waking his younger brother in the same room. The kids look forward to using it on trips...even my 8 year old has asked to use the 'tent', but he's just way too big. My 5 year old is on the petite size so she still fits...barely. Ideal for ages 2-4, in my opinion.
