Baby Products Reviews of Kidco PeaPod Plus Indoor/Outdoor Travel Bed - RedCustomer Review: "Bent Out of Shape" in New York Summary: 1 Stars
I saw this online, thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and bought it. The concept is great and my baby loved napping in it, but it became totally impractical and unusable because neither I nor any of my friends (all of whom have college educations, are usually considered fairly intelligent, and are normally able to both read and follow instructions) could get it to fold properly and fit back into the bag-EVER! The instructions are photographic and extremely difficult to see as the pictures are so tiny. This now sits unused because it is just not worth the frustration. Too bad, really, because it is a good product.
Customer Review: great product Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent product. Kind of expensive, but I think it will get a lot of use. (My only issue is that the hand pump that's included with it to blow up the mattress is silly. It takes longer to use the hand pump than it does just to blow it up with your own lung power.) It folds up very easily and is compact enough that I can just leave it in my hatchback all the time. It's great for using at the beach or anywhere you need a quick bed for your little one. And because it accommodates a child up to 6 years old, my son will get lots of use out of it. What kid doesn't like playing in a tent? Definitely worth the expense.
Customer Review: Nervous for Nothing-This thing is great! Summary: 5 Stars
I was so nervous about using this bed based on other reviews indicating it was nearly impossible to fold up and get back in the bag rendering it useless for travel. I followed the suggestions of others and put a crib sheet on the mattress and put the mattress directly inside the tent. It took only 2 naps to get my little guy (11 mos.) to sleep in it regularly in his crib. Today I was almost terrified as I packed for vacation, dreading the folding up process. I had that thing in the bag in 2 minutes. It did take a few tries but it was my first time. Next time I bet it will only take me 1 minute. This was a GREAT BUY!
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the deluxe Peapod because we're planning a trip to visit relatives and will have to fly. We didn't want to take our child's portable crib so we thought we'd try this. We went to a conference and stayed in a hotel, so we decided to test out the Peapod with our 13-month-old. It was perfect! He didn't fuss at all about being in a confined space and went right to sleep. It was super easy to put together and to break down. And, it's long enough that he'll be able to use it for many years to come. I feel very confident about our upcoming trip thanks to the Peapod, especially since it will fit in our largest suitcase!
Customer Review: Great idea, but not practical or durable. Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for a family vacation. We tried it out at home and our baby loved it. However, under "real" conditions, it failed. The inflatable mattress sprung a leak on the second night and the patch kit wouldn't hold. Even with the flaps raised it was sweltering inside. Whenever my baby rolled over the whole thing shimmied and shivered waking him and me up. I wanted to avoid the weight and encumbrance of a pack 'n play, but I should have just bitten the bullet and lugged it around.
On the positive side, it's lightweight and easy to set up. Great idea, but it's just not practical or durable. Bummer.
