Customer Review: Great gate if you're not planning to use extensions.

I have this gate set up in two different parts of my house... one part as-is, and one part with two extensions. The gate that that has no extensions is very durable, and easy to open, however there is a bar that goes across the bottom of the "door", and myself and my guests are always bumping bare toes on it...ouch!
In the other part of my house, I have this gate with two extensions. It's such a LONG gate, that there is no stability... the whole thing kind of sways, and my toddler finally was able to pull it out of the wall. There aren't many gates out there that will let you cover such a wide room, though, and for that it was nice while it lasted.

This gate seems strong - and actually lasts very well for about a year or so of moderate to high use. The problem arises when the top of the gate travels past it's vertical axis. This "flexing" causes the spot welds on the vertical bars to break. This renders the gate absolutely useless unless you find out a way to either reconnect or weld the bars back on. For those of you with rambunctions toddlers, believe me this will happen.
I don't know of a better gate out there, so maybe just live with it and be careful. But more than likely you'll have to replace or repair this thing every year or two. A tough thing to swallow for a $130 gate!

...of this gate. We were a little skeptical about it at first, as with anything we buy online, but it has been awesome. It's a very sturdy gate with easy mechanics. Very simple. We bought for the top of our extra-wide stairway 5 minutes after our 7-month-old took his first tumble. We are so much more relaxed now because we know the gate will keep him safe. It's more attractive than we had anticipated. As for the quality...it's very sturdy and easy to install if you have studs in the right places and a power drill. My guess is that those who rated it poorly either installed it wrong or didn't attach it to studs. Great product. Worth every penny.Customer Review: Great gate!

We bought this gate 3 years ago when our youngest child began crawling. We needed it for the top of our stairs, which had a metal banister that was hard to connect a gate to securely. So, we needed a gate that would be straight next to the banister then bend to meet the wall beyond the stair landing. This is the only one I found that worked for such a project. Now, we will be using it in a different house to go across the landing of our tri-level home, to block off two stairways for our second child. It certainly is adaptable. I only wish there were smaller extensions available. Still, I highly recommend this product for hard-to-secure areas.Customer Review: Perfect for larger or offset expanses

This is the best gate if you are trying to negociate a larger or offset space to block off. The three panel unit will adjust to almost any desired shape and lock in place very securely. The swing gate itself is very easy to open and close and locks with a good latch.
This was especially useful to us since our walls are not flat but have contoured trims. The attaching 16" hinge and bracket can be adjustably positioned to clear any baseboard.
The whole gate can be lifted off the wall mounts with the release of a safety catch.
All in all, a very sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, easy to install and use gate. Worth the money for sure.
