The advertising for this gate made it seem like the right purchase for me, but I was wrong! First, the hinges on the gate which allow you to place the panels at an angle are not wonderful. If you're a little too forceful, it can easily break. And if it breaks, you're out of luck with installing this gate. Second, the mounting pieces for the wall are fixed position, at the top of every fence panel. The wall mounts are not the same as shown in the Amazon picture, which is in the middle of the panel! This became a problem for me because I have a window ledge that is lower than the wall mount location. Third, this Kidco gate is clearly terribly overpriced. Most people will have to buy extension gate panels to make this work and boy does the cost add up. If you have an irregular shaped area or room that needs a gate, I'd recommend that you look into the North States 3 in 1 Super Yard Gate. I bought this North States Gate with a total of 6 panels (12 feet) and it did not have any of the problems I just described. It was expensive, but cost less than the Kidco. Overall, it is sturdier and better made too. The North States Gate can be placed at various angles too just like the Kidco. North States Gate needs to amp up their advertising though because it isn't quite clear that it can do the same as the Kidco Gate at a better price too.Customer Review: Best Large Opening Gate out there.

We bought two different kinds of Gates for our living room area. We bought the Kidco Configure gate and the Kidco Elongate.
The elongate was to cover an area of 84". The elongate can only go straight across and opening. It's extension are screwed together and have an overlap. So the gate is not actually straight across. We are very disappointed in this purchase and wished we had bought two Configure gates. Took us some time to screw the extension in and then to screw the supports in and then to mark it on the wall. Took us over an hour.
The Configure gate is on the pricey side. We almost did not buy it. But it has two different size extension pieces and you can bend and configure it to the space you need. We use it at the bottom of our stairs and it bows out to give you an area so that the gate is not up against the stairs.
It was so easy to add the extension piece on. You just snap out the pole and add the extension piece. You can bend the gate different ways to fit in the opening.
To Mount on the wall you just mark the screw holes and screw in the plate then snap the gate on. It was mounted on the wall in less then 20 minutes. It was very sturdy.
I highly recommend this gate.
Customer Review: Finally an answer to odd angles and large size openings!!

I discovered KidCo after 15 years of trying all sorts of gates, etc. to block the odd stairway openings in our split level home (we've had some give way, others too difficult to actually use, and one set of stairs nothing ever worked to prevent them from trying to go up). Luckily, falls were never serious but now I've been watching a friend's baby and wanted no possibility of injury or accident. We recently purchased a wood pellet stove and the owner recommended the kidco firesafety gate enclosure which was wonderful. I immediately began looking to see if Kidco had something similar to work for our odd opening and discsovered the Configure gate which when angled across the doorway of the hall prevented access to Both Stairways!!! but still lets the rest of the family through with the easy access center opening. I now sleep easy at night and have no worries when my nieces, nephews, and friends come over with their wee ones---just wish I had known about this 15 years prior when my oldest was a tot!
The item was ordered, shipped, and received withing Days!!! Prompt service, shipped in clear overwrapped plastic so bad weather delivery doesn't cause damage either. Totally positive experience and would recommend product and supplier for future purchases.

I bought this gate to replace the wooden one I had. Wow, was this what I should have bought in the first place. It took no time to put up, I even had my kids "trying" to help. I have 3 kids which are 1, 2, and 5. My 5 yr old figured out how to open the gate on his own but still sturgles once and a while with not having enough stregnth in his hand to do it. But my younger two have no idea how to open it, the old wooden gate my 2 yr old could open. And if my 2 yr old couldn't open it on her own she would just kick it until it the hinges finally poped out of the gate and broke it. I did fix the wooden gate many times and then all 3 of the kids broke it for good. Before I bought this gate I was having a hard time finding a gate big enough and strudy enough to fit my 6 foot opening into the play room. I bought this gate at BabiesRUs.com and even with out being able to look at it up close before I bought it, I am thrilled I did and it is worth every penny I spent on it. I originally purchased this gate to keep my chihuahua off new carpet. I had purchased probably 5 different gates to block off various areas of my home, and decided a walk-through gate would make my life easier. I ran into the issue of not finding one large enough until I came across this one. It's a fantastic gate. It's very sturdy, and has held up through two years now of moving it around and re-configuring it for different space sizes. I love that I can mount the sides to the wall for something more permanent, but remove it when guests come over (if I want, although it's definitely presentable as well). Lately, I've bent it into a U-shape and let it stand on it's own since my dogs don't ever try to knock it over or anything. I can still walk through the gate, and it stands on its own. As I paint different rooms, I move it around with me to avoid having to close doors. I'm planning to purchase another since I now have two large openings I'd like to block, and after shopping around just to see if anything else is available, I've found my way back to this one. I definitely recommend it!
