Customer Review: Don't waste your money

I read the reviews before ordering this, and since only a couple of the reviews dinged the straps and the other reviewers seemed so happy with it, I decided to take a chance and order it. As soon as it arrived and I tried to attach the booster to our chair, I could see the problem with it. Despite its high price-point, both the design and the materials are inferior. The back strap tightened sufficiently around the back of the chair, though the poor clasp design made tightening it quite a chore, and because the strap runs over the seat bottom the child would have to sit on top of a taught strap (the strap doesn't rest flat against the bottom of the seat, but sort of floats just over it when tight).
But the real trouble is with the strap that goes around the bottom of the chair. This one is simply far too long. Unless you are attaching this to an enormous armchair, I just don't see how this could possibly work. I tightened it as far as it would go (also with the difficult-to-tighten clasps) and it was still just dangling there, meaning there's no possible way to secure this booster tightly to the chair.
Other problems with the booster are that the clasps feel flimsy -- they don't unsnap smoothly, and they feel as if they could easily break -- and that whatever foam material it is made of has a bad off-gassy smell to it.
All said, we will not be keeping this product long enough to tell whether it stops offgassing, because without straps that allow it to be secured tightly to the chair, it simply doesn't do its job. The only star this product gets is for being short enough to slide the chair under the table with the booster attached. But since the booster doesn't actually perform its sole function -- keeping a child securely strapped in -- that's a moot point. We bought the Graco Blossom instead (for about half the price of the Keekaroo, thank you very much) and are happy with it. Back to the drawing board, Keekaroo.
