Customer Review: You do not need this! Better just read baby's cues

We initially only used this product for the first few days. We found that it was great for keeping track of feedings and diaper changes but it was hard to keep track of and cumbersome to keep on bring with you as you go from different rooms in the apartment. We breast fed for 8 months and fed on demand. We learned how to tell if he was hungry. We learned to determine when he needed a diaper change - the diaper would feel different, look heavier and sometimes all we needed to know was that we would get a whiff that isnt so pleasant. We found it easier to just read baby's cues rather than counting the hours between meals and diaper changes and trying to keep him on a schedule. This may be better for parents who practice that philosophy. We decided to follow the Dr Sears approach of attachment parenting. Rather than using a gadget to keep us on a schedule or keep track of time, we grew into our parental roles and are better for it. You dont need this gadget. This has been my favorite baby gadget by far! It makes it easier to deciphor what my baby wants when he cries. If I see that it's been 3 hours since he last ate, he's probably hungry, etc. I like that it's just a timer instead of trying to remember the actual time because it seems that all days run together and it's easy to mix up what happened on what day. It also makes it easier on my husband to figure out what our son's "status" is when he gets home from work to take over and give me a little break.
It was important for our son to eat every 2 hours for the first couple weeks because he had lost a significant amount of weight his first few days. So the timer that we could set was also helpful as a reminder.
Now our son eats when he wants to, but I can gage how long he eats with the timer to make sure that he's getting enough.
As first-time parents, this Itzbeen has been wonderful in helping us feel organized and on top of our son's basic needs.

This little thing might be the greatest gadget that we have. My husband and I created a schedule system to take care of our newborn baby. Each of us have a shift during the day. We use the Itzbeen to tell when the other person changed diapers, exact time of feedings, sleeping and even soiled diapers. It comes with a screen-light so you can read your times in the dark and a flashlight to check on your baby's face without having to turn on your nursery lights. Also for breastfeeding moms, it has "breast-side" indicator to remind you which side you used in your last session.
It's very light and has back clip making it easy to carry it around. We take it everywhere.
We are so tired and sleepy all the time that it's been very comfortable to rely on this gadget. If you are a new parent then you know what I'm talking about... you will forget what you did just 10 minutes ago! It's been wonderful to have the Itzbeen to remind us what's next.

The Itzbeen timer has been real helpful in numerous things for me. When my son was first born I was writing everything down to keep track of feedings and how many wet and dirty diapers he was doing. I actually used the timer to keep track of all the meds I was taking the first 2 weeks. I was taking 3 different meds that was to be taken ever 4 hours and every 8 hours and not having to remember how long it's been since the last dose made it easier. One less thing to write down and remember.. After awhile I started using it for feedings and diaper changes. I don't have to write the times down now and my husband doesn't have to ask me when our son was last fed or changed. He is 3 months old now and I'm still using it.
My only complaint is that the alarm could be a little louder. When I DO get some sleep I never hear it. I have to set alarms on my phone as back up to wake me up. Other then that great product! Would buy again and definitely will be buying as baby shower gifts!

I bought this for my granddaughter who lives we me and it is wonderful! There were several times when we forgot what time the baby ate and my daughter would say check the Itzbeen timer. My granddaughter was constipated so we used the diaper icon to keep track of bowel movements. Although she is a girl I bought the blue one because I could get it in two days compared to the pink one which was going to take over a month - I think it was because of different vendors. There is a slide lock on the side so that you cannot accidentally click a button and there is a button you can click so that the display lights up. Other useful items is a light at the top, a sleep button to keep track of naps, an extra button to keep track of anything else that needs tracking such as medicine, and it you are nursing there is a slide button to keep track of right and left side. I have never heard of Itzbeen before but found it when searching on Amazon.com and thought we would try it. It is wonderful!
