Baby Products Reviews of Itzbeen Baby Care Timer, BlueCustomer Review: Underwhelmed Summary: 2 Stars
Pros:
Easy to use
Really convenient for reminder alarms (like every 3 hrs for feeding)
Cons:
The backlight lights for only a few seconds, not long enough when you're fumbling around in the dark
Need to reset timers immediately to get accurate times, not always easy when both hands are occupied with a fussy baby
Night light is not large enough to be useful for changing diapers in the dark
I gave up using this device after a couple days. The doctors/nurses are much more concerned with how many times the newborn baby has fed and how many diapers in a day than with how long it's been since the last occurrence. I found myself having to write down all that information which defeated the purpose of using the timer. In the hospital, the nurses had me fill out a daily log sheet. At home, I've downloaded Baby ESP ($4) for my android smart phone. The software provides all the same features as the timer and lets me track feeding times, left and right sides, pee and poo diapers and medicine, either with real-time timers (like Itzbeen) or with manual entries after the fact.
Customer Review: Pocket-sized and very useful Summary: 5 Stars
So, you've got a new baby on your hands and have no idea what's going on. This is a gadget worth having during this initial time. The pictures online don't make it clear that it's hand-held sized, and that it comes with a helpful belt clip. These two things make it easy to keep with you, or clip to something nearby.
While you're sleep deprived you may not realize it's been longer than you think since you last fed or changed the baby. With this it's no longer a mystery. Just when you cannot believe the baby needs to be fed AGAIN, the time will tell you it's probably been longer than you think. That and the sleep button will help you in the middle of the night when you see the baby's sleeping longer than your sleep-deprived brain wants to believe.
So during the first couple of months this little gadget will definitely come in handy. And the $25 will seem cheap compared to retaining your sanity. Get one, it's worth it.
Will you use it forever? No, but then that's true of a whole bunch of the baby stuff you've got. Do someone a favor and pass it along when you're done with it.
Customer Review: Best product for a stressed parent! Summary: 5 Stars
After 6 months I've only had to change the batteries once, which is really great especially since it has an indicator so it wont randomly shut off. It has a belt clip so you can clip it on you or the diaper bag. I wouldn't want to use a phone app because then both parents wouldn't be able to use it. I definitely would not remember to carry a pen and pad with me and it's great for when one parent takes over for another or outings. It's not too small that it's easily lost. I like the soft light feature. Also you can set it to beep if it reaches a certain time (like if you are trying to keep a feeding schedule at night for a new born.) I've had it for 6 months and I currently only use the diaper and feeding timers. I have so much going on with just life in general that this little gadget is great. No more "oh when did i feed/change him last?" At least it's a good way to determine why they might be fussy without so much guess work. I've bought it for all of my pregnant friends, it really is a stress reliever. Yes I baby will eat when their hungry etc but isn't it great to be able to anticipate it?
Customer Review: Best baby item ever!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm nursing my 3rd infant right now. I wish I'd had this for the first 2. No matter what your parenting style this is a sanity keeper. I'm very type B so this is my little type A friend. It is so helpful to be able to click a button and know how long I've been nursing. 2 of my 3 kids would not end a feeding on their own. They just love to nurse...forever. It is really, really helpful to have this little time keeper letting me know how long "itzbeen" :-) Especially when I wake in the middle of the night with a baby in my bed not sure if I've been nursing for 10 minute or 2 hours (yes, people it happens) Then in my sleepy stupor I can either put babykins back to sleep in her basinet or keep feeding for a nice full tummy. When I have time I can relax and give her a nice long feeding, but when my other 2 kiddos need me this little guy helps me know if I can cut her off or if I should keep nursing. I know a clock would do just the same thing. But I can never remember when I started nursing. And when nursing 6-9 times a day they all just blend together. I LURV! my Itzbeen.
Customer Review: I will buy this for every baby shower gift from now on.... Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVE this item! I bought it because as a first time mom, I knew I would try to keep up with everything and for the price, I thought, "why not?"
When I first got it and played around with it, I thought, well I MIGHT use it. Boy was that an understatement! Now "ITZBEEN" everywhere we have been! And I have found extra uses for it as well. For instance, I had a c-section and had to take med's for a few days and I used the "spare" button for that. Since I was breastfeeding and getting little sleep, it is sooo helpful because you really can't remember sometimes and writing it down is just more to do on a sleep-deprived brain. You can just put it in bed with you and glance at it when you need to. I also thought you could use it to time contractions as well!My baby is four weeks old now and I highly recommend this product and will keep using it!I don't use the alarms too much, but I could see myself using them if she has to take meds at some point. It takes a little time to remember to push the buttons, but once you get it, it is GREAT and so convenient!
