Baby Products Reviews of Itzbeen Baby Care Timer, Blue

Customer Review: Sleep deprived parents rejoice!
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this item because of other reviews that I read and I'm glad to find out it works just as great as they said! It's a GREAT idea, and when my son was first born it was a great way to keep track of how often he ate/slept, etc. I use it now to travel back and forth to my son's babysitters so when I pick him up I don't have to ask "was he just changed? when did he eat last?"

The nice thing is that it has a button lock on the side so you don't accidentally push a button and change the time. It also has two different lighting settings... one that is a constant nightlight, and another light that lights up the buttons if it's night and you don't want to turn on the light to see which button to push.

In the future I plan to use it before Dr appts so I can keep track of how often he's eating, or using it to keep track of when he needs to get medication. (There's a 'miscellaneous' button you can use to time what ever you want.) The timers can count up from a previous time, or count down to a time that you want an alarm to go off too. It has a setting where you can turn off all noise too if you're worried about waking up the baby by accident. REAL easy to use! Directions are extremely clear.

Customer Review: couldn't live without it
Summary: 5 Stars

This timer arrived much smaller than I expected...which was perfect. I was planning on breastfeeding but was not able to, so I don't use the Left/Right feature. But since I am bottle/formula feeding my baby, both my husband and I are able to take shifts or turns. Because I have to share feeding information with my husband, this has been a life saver for both of us. Even though our daughter is already 3 months old and my husband and I are getting restful sleep...WE ARE STILL DEPENDENT ON THE ITZBEEN. This works great for parents who are not feeding on demand, such as ourselves, because we need a timer to know when it's been 2 1/2 to 3 hours. And every busy parent knows that it doesn't take fatigue to make you forget the time.
We use the blinking light feature as opposed to the alarm so that it will keep blinking silently and continue to time. I believe the sound alarm turns off after some time. I don't use the diaper change or the sleep timer too much since I synchronize these with her feeding times. However, I do use the optional timer for timing "wake time or play time" which I want to make sure my baby gets. Wonderful product that I plan on buying for every new mother/friend that comes along.

Customer Review: Helpful product
Summary: 4 Stars

I almost returned this before I opened it, but I'm glad I didn't. While I don't use ALL the functions, the ones I use are indispensable. I don't much care how long its been since junior had his diaper changed, but I definitely track his feedings. If we are out on the town, the timer reminds me to get someplace for a feeding. If I'm at home, it helps us manage our time so that I'm prepared for a feeding instead of being in the middle of cooking dinner or something. It also helps me to see that if he is fussy after 2 hours, it isn't likely hunger. The sleep button is just for fun at my house. I like to see how long he sleeps, but really it doesn't matter. But the asterisk button is helpful when administering meds. After having immunizations, they suggested Tylenol every 6 hours. This button helped me stay on track. In the beginning I used the switch to remember what side I nursed on last, but I've gotten lazy at that. The only reason for the missing star...the nightlight button now sticks and is very difficult to press and turn on..which is very frustrating at 2 a.m. Overall, I recommend this for anyone who likes to stick to a schedule. If you prefer to wing it, don't bother!

Customer Review: Very simple but amazingly useful gadget
Summary: 5 Stars

This device is a clock and a series of 4 timers. All of the timers are the same except for the icon on the corresponding button. A press of the button resets the timer, which then starts to count upward in hours and minutes.

So how could this possibly be useful? As new parents, bewildered and tired, we're trying to get baby onto a schedule of eat time, wake time, and sleep time. This gadget has helped by telling us how long "it's been" since the last event.

I change or check the diaper, I press the corresponding button. Then I'll know when I last checked it. My wife feeds her, she presses the button. Not only does she know how long she's been feeding but we know when to expect to feed again (and therefore how long we have to take a nap).

The last timer is a bonus timer. My wife's been using it to tell her when she last took Motrin for her post-partum aches and pains. We haven't found much use for the night light. The "left/right" reminder is also useful but we sometimes forget to flip it.

At less than $25 this gadget has been enormously useful in the first 10 days of our daughter's life.

Customer Review: Best money spent EVER on baby gadget
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband laughed at me for buying this while I was pregnant. He said it was a "glorified clock". Now he uses it more than I do! The best feature is for someone like me who has no sense of time. You know how long is has been since you last changed or fed the little one. You have to commit to use it or it isn't worth it but it has been invaluable to me. Also after breastfeeding is established and your nipples are no longer sore it is difficult to remember which breast you last fed from. This has a toggle that is a reminder so the baby always gets the most milk. The light is nice in the middle of the night when you can't see (or to just admire your sleeping angel) and the extra timer is great for remembering last medication doses. You can even lock the keys so that no buttons accidentally get hit if you throw it in the diaper bag. The backlight is perfect for quick glances at the time or the display. I can't say enough great things about this gadget. If you buy any gadget this is the one to get! My husband now says it was a great investment and I bought another for a friend who is pregnant. We don't leave home without this. BUY ONE!
