Baby Products Reviews of Itzbeen Baby Care Timer, Blue

Customer Review: A must have for sleep deprived/busy parents! Baby doesn't go anywhere without it.
Summary: 5 Stars

I was reluctant to purchase this gadget initially even though I read most all of the reviews. It seemed like one more thing we could live without... after all lots of people record when their baby last ate/had their diaper changed with a pen and paper. What I found out was that with little sleep it is SOOO nice to have the Itzbeen to keep track of how long it had been between things. When it's 3:34am and you remember you fed your baby at 11:42pm... well try doing that math on little sleep. For us all we had to do was look at the itzbeen and it told us how long it had been between feedings. We have used ours for nearly 2 months every day and it has held up wonderfully. I especially like the fourth * button. I used mine for pumping and tracking time between medications. The small compact design is great. It fits perfectly in the cellphone pocket of our diaper bag and clipped nicely on my breast pump. One of the nicest features is the flashlight- perfect for checking up on baby during the middle of the night when you don't want to turn a light on. The glow is similar to the glow on a cellphone screen. Just enough! All of my friends who saw this wished they had this for their babies. I highly recommend this product to all parents- it's especially useful in the beginning if you don't have a routine or schedule!

Customer Review: My lifeblood in the beginning.
Summary: 5 Stars

When I got this item as a shower gift last year, I couldn't wait to use it. Once my son was born, you had to pry this thing out of my cold dead hands. It went everywhere with us and if we happened to forget it, we were lost.

Perhaps, like some people, they think it's silly. It's a gadget this is true, but when you're a new parent and you are flying by the seat of your pants, in a haze of sleep deprivation, this is a great tool to help you remember the basics. We slept with it, we dragged it around the house with us like a security blanket. We flew cross country when my son was five weeks, and this thing was an absolute godsend. Do math? With a newborn? Haha!

True, it's a short lived need. Once your baby gets on a schedule, you won't really need to rely on it so much. By about 2.5 months, we were able to put it away. But in the time we did use it, we USED it. I see people selling these used on ebay, saying that they got it and ended up forgetting about it, which is sad.

I will echo the other people here in that I would have liked a feature that allowed you to record the amount they last ate.

Bottom line, it's great for new parents, and even a seasoned second time parent. I'm sure wrangling a toddler and a newborn, can't be easy.

Customer Review: Great product for type A personality parent
Summary: 4 Stars

I found this product on this website but then saw it at the stores on clearance and decided to give it a try. I'm a teacher by trade, and run pretty much on bells and alarms (type A personality all the way). This timer is a dream come true for a person like me!

As a second time parent (I have two children 4 years apart, just gave birth to my son a week ago), I was obsessed with figuring out when it was the last time I did this or that (diaper change, feeding, pumping, etc.). This little gadget is the machine to settle all those fears.

Some problems with the product:
1. It's a little thick. Doesn't sit very well on a table.
2. There is no second hand; so when you first start to use it, you don't know if you got it right.
3. The alarm are in increments of 30 minutes only. A little irritating if you want anything else.
4. The clip in the back is a good idea but it doesn't do very well clipping to items like baby bags and so forth.

I highly recommend this product to a first time parent who is scared half to death about everything everyone tells them any way. I bought another two: one for myself (just in case the first one goes bust) and another for future baby showers (who ISN'T having a baby lately?). It really does help!

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I purchased this product in anticipation of our second child, born just 18 months after our first. The timer was so much more convenient than scribbling notes around the house to remind us not only when the baby last ate but when I last took my 2 medications (post c-section). The night light has come in handy more than once in the middle of the night when I've dropped a pacifier and I love that this device reminds me which breast I last nursed from. This is a great product for sleep deprived parents that aren't always thinking clearly. The locking mechanism also comes in handy when my 18 month old pushes the backlight button over and over... he's entertained and my timers aren't reset. This is must-have for all parents and will be our go-to baby shower gift from now on (way more useful than another newborn outfit that`s quickly outgrown). EDIT: While I still love this product and use it everyday with my now 9 month old I wanted to share that the slide mechanisms that reminds me of which side I last nursed from stopped working after about 6 weeks and would settle in the middle instead of clearly indicating which breast I last used. That was an inconvenience but I still love this product and would whole-heartedly recommend it.

Customer Review: Great gadget, not so good execution
Summary: 4 Stars

I really love the gadget and it has been smth I carry around all the time. I like being able to track how much and when my baby eats as well as how much she sleeps. I honestly do admire the moms that can do it without it but your ability to track time does change when you have a baby. I would tend to disagree with some reviews regarding crying baby=hungry baby. Though not a believer in a strict schedule the baby does need some time or order otherwise a new mom's crazy life becomes even more crazy. Plus a crying baby does not always mean a hungry baby. Anyway overall I found this gadget useful. Only complaint, which probably aligns with a lot of complaints is I got my first item defective. The problem was though that it was a baby shower gift and I didn't open it right away and it was over 30 days to exchange/ return with Amazon. I did contact the manufacturer though and they were very nice to send me a replacement right away without me having to return the defective one first. And as such I bought one of these for my friend as a baby shower gift... hers ended up being defective too, and i say this is some poor quality control.

In conclusion great gadget, poor quality product, good customer service from the manufacturer.
