Baby Products Reviews of Itzbeen Baby Care Timer - BlueCustomer Review: Perfect for Twins!! Summary: 5 StarsWe bought an Itzbeen just after our first baby was born 2 years ago. As exhausted first time parents we quickly got tired of trying to remember when we last fed her, changed her diaper, how long she'd been awake, or written any of that down to help establish her routine. We honestly didn't think it would work as great as it did! We just clicked the button and always knew where we were at in our day. Rarely had to wonder why she was crying or cranky but didn't want to eat. (A-ha! It's been over 2 hours since she woke up! She's tired!) 9 months after she was born we were shocked to find out we were having twins and we instantly bought another Itzbeen, green for one baby, blue for the other. People would ask us how we kept things straight - Itzbeen! Following their sleeping, waking and eating habits was so easy. We never forgot to change one of them. Folks were shocked that we had them in a routine so quickly and the Itzbeens were a critical element to make it possible. Truly would have gone crazy without them. It's our favorite gift to give our family and friends who are expecting. The oldest is 2 and the twins are almost 1 now and we find we only use them to track medicine when they're sick. Although sometimes we start clicking those sleep buttons again when their nap times seem to be transitioning and within a few days, we know exactly what the new routine is. Love the Itzbeen!
Customer Review: Handy for sleep-deprived parents, then as a nightlight later Summary: 5 StarsI was skeptical when we received this as a gift from gadgety friends, but it was a lifesaver in the first few months when we were overwhelmed. Feeding and sleeping and medicine and diaper changes - it's easy to keep track now that baby has settled into a routine, but it was chaos those first few weeks as parents.
Nowadays we don't use all the functions, but it is a real handy discreet night light to jot down feeding notes or search for dropped items without a glaring light in baby's face.
Customer Review: Your brain as a new parent Summary: 4 StarsOK, I know this seems like an idiot gift, but if you're a new parent it's hard to remember ANYTHING with the lack of sleep going on. This thing pretty much ruled our lives the first few months. It really helps you keep your baby on a regular schedule (good for babe and you)and helps you figure out what's wrong if the baby's upset since you can just check the time to see when he last ate, slept, or was changed. And if you're nursing, good luck trying to remember which side you started nursing with last (i never could) so this was GREAT.
The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because it would be awesome if they made a feature to track the times that you could hookup to your computer to look at trends, etc... then again, who has time to track trends with a newborn!
Customer Review: Great for the First time mom. Summary: 4 StarsI wish I had this with my first born. With him I was writing everything down and I had a horrible time trying to keep track of last feedings and when I took my meds last. This time with my daughter it just seems like I have every thing under control and I am not needing to remember times. I did use it a lot more to time my contractions vrs. time baby's needs. It is a wonderful and awesome idea for someone who needs to keep track of the baby's needs, so if you are in the market for that then this is the product for you. I just think that as a second time mom I am finding it easier to meet my baby's needs with out a timer.
Customer Review: A necessity for our twins! Summary: 5 StarsWe have 5 month old twins and this gadget has been WONDERFUL! We have used it from the day we brought our boys home from the NICU. As new parents we didn't really know what to expect with newborns, much less twin newborns. But we quickly found out everything is a blur, including when we last fed the babies. Note that we did NOT get two of these even though we have 2 babies. That really is not necessary. Initially we always fed the babies at the same time, and we would always change their diapers then too. So it was very easy to use the same timer to track both babies for bottles and diapers. But nowadays we find that we don't always need to change a diaper when they get a bottle (which is about every 2.5 to 3 hours). Also, sometimes I'll feed one baby and wait 20-30 minutes before feeding the other baby (helps with logistics). So what we've done is "repurpose" some of the buttons. Now we use the first two buttons to track when baby #1 and baby #2 last ate. The last two buttons are now used to track when baby #1 and baby #2 went down for a nap (or conversely when they woke up from a nap). This works great for us! Now if a baby starts crying uncontrollaby we can look at the Itzbeen and determine if its because they are hungry and need to prepare a bottle, of if it may be due to another reason. We were surprised that babies don't always make it 3 hours but can sometimes get ravenous in only 2 hours or so (darn growth spurts keep ya guessing)! This timer is also great because my mom watches our babies during the day while we work, and we can "trade shifts" with minimal updates. When she comes over and starts her shift we don't have to write down when baby #1 and #2 last ate, we just toss her the Itzbeen and she is ready to babysit! We highly recommend the Itzbeen, especially if you are a new parent or parent to twins (or both!).
