Customer Review: Worth the money for various reasons
Summary: 4 Stars

We originally did not purchase this item until our son was born. He was having trouble sleeping in his bassinet, and we thought it was largely in part to the feeling of being "open" and not being "snuggled". I purchased for him at about 4 weeks and he began sleeping more peacefully. I feel that it has given him: the feeling of being held, helped to prevent him from rolling over onto his tummy, and also inclines his head (which we feel may be helping him with gas/reflux issues as well).
A few negatives are the difficulty removing the covering to clean and if your baby is long and strong, he can push his head off the back of the incline from time to time. This is extremely frightening and fortunately he lets out a pretty big cry when that has happened. Overall, we have loved it, but hope to not have to use it when he moves to his crib. Oh, one last thing, the side supports are attached by velcro, so you can shift them down if needed. My son was almost forced to sleep in a T position until we moved the side supports down.

Customer Review: These aren't safe

I actually own this and used it for my son when he was an infant, but we co-sleep, so he laid on it in our bed. I was watching the news in my city this week and a couple who owns this same positioner had put it in their baby's crib and during the night, he slid down and pressed his face into one of the side rests and suffocated. He was about 6 or 8 weeks old. An expert came on to say that not enough testing has been done on sleep positioners and it's still best to keep your crib bare -- don't even use bumpers because the baby can roll into those and suffocate. He said to use a sleep-sack or a light blanket only. I'm going to just throw this away, because after looking at it and thinking about how an infant can move around, I see how it happened. I would just think twice before using it.

P.S. If you're worried about reflux, you can buy a wedge to put under the crib mattress or you can do what one book suggests and prop the yellow pages under the mattress to elevate the baby's head a few inches.

Customer Review: a good investment

I bought this positioner after my son came home from the hospital and would not sleep in his crib. I opted not to get a bassinet as our home is tiny, and I did not intend to have him sleep in our room. I was unaware that infants like to feel snug, and that a crib might be too roomy to start with. I was shopping with my mom and she suggested this as a solution. I think it is a great product. I do not like my son to sleep on his back (spit-up issues, flat-head concerns, etc...) so this allows me to place him on his side and not worry that he might roll onto his face. He does tend to scoot down, now that he's more active, but it's not a problem. I, too, cover it with a receiving blanket (tucked snugly beneath) because the cover looks like it might be scratchy on one's face and it's easier to wash the blanket. I would like to hear/read more about why this product raises the risk of SIDs, and if it's the only one, or if other sleep positioners pose the same risk. Until then, I give it 4 stars.

Customer Review: Really a piece of junk. . .

We bought this for my son (he had bad reflux). Anyway I will lay out the pros and the cons for you:
Pros:
The inner stuffing (for lack of a better word) seems to be made of decent foam.

The CONS:
This product barely lasted 2 months although we intended on using it much longer.
The sides have an awful covering and the velcro does not work. My son rolled right off after the velcro became dislodged. We found our son with his head buried in the side of the positioner/
The cover does not wash well. When we had to wash the cover, we would use the hand wash cycle in the washer, then tumble dry on low. The cover always seemed to get smaller and never went on right after the first time that it was removed.

We were desperate for a sleep positioner and decided to buy this one. It was a complete waste of $20. Don't waste your money. Poor workmanship and cheap materials (with the exception of the positioner itself) make it a hazard for baby.

Customer Review: first time mom

Overall I think it is a good product. I don't worry about my newborn baby being in the wrong position at night now, I swaddle her and place her in the Inclined to Sleep and she does just fine. I also have used it in bed with my husband and myself, since she sleeps better with us, and I don't worry about the safety issues of cosleeping.

HOWEVER, the foam is way too soft and the fabric is cheap. My daughter is only 2 weeks old and the product looks like it has been used for years. I now have to place a folded receiving blanket under the head portion to get the same incline as it was when it was new. Plus she is a long baby, and does tend to wriggle down to the bottom at times, it would be useful if the Inclined to Sleep were longer and had a bottom wedge to prevent sliding down. I usually solve this by having a light blanket over her legs and tucking it in the sides and bottom, and then jamming the bottom of the Inclined to Sleep against the bottom of the bassinet.
