Baby Products Reviews of Inclined to SleepCustomer Review: Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
When my now 4 month old daughter was born the doctor wanted her to sleep in an inclined position. I am not sure whether this had to do with her heart murmur or if he suggests that for all infants. I bought this because it is difficult to prop up a bassinet pad from underneath the way he suggested to do with the crib matress. I do agree that she did slip down a bit in the beginning but I just placed a rolled up baby blanket under her legs and she stayed in position perfectly. She really loves it because she feels cradled and is very comfortable. I love it because it helps to keep her from spitting up in her sleep and helps her breathing when she is congested! She is now nearly 4 months old and still uses it every night. She is not a very small baby either, born at 8 lbs. 3 oz. she is still using it now that she is over 13lbs and I think we will be using this for some time to come! I highly recomend this product and would suggest using the rolled up blanket even if your baby doesn't slip down. It elevates the feet and babies tend to feel more comfortable that way...like they are being cradled.
Customer Review: A wonderful product! Summary: 5 Stars
I think some of the reviews are very misleading.
Yes, it's best to have nothing at all in the crib. However, sleep positioners are now a very common item to have in cribs and the pediatricians that I know all agree with this.
We got this sleep positioner for my son because he had reflux. This item was a lifesaver! We already had his crib tilted but this sleep positioner tilted him even more. Plus, they are provide great security to babies.
I would recommend this product to anyone who has a baby with reflux or for someone who just wants to provide some much needed security to a baby. When my son got too big for this one and started sliding down we purchased another kind of sleep positioner (airflow) and he still uses it and is 7 months old. My son was born 3 months early and weighed only 4lb 11 oz when he came home from the NICU after 7 weeks. He used this from the day he came home and we never had problems with him sliding down until he got much much bigger.
The best thing about this item is that the cover come off and can be washed.
Customer Review: Mutiple Uses - Especially for Babies with Reflux Summary: 4 Stars
My baby struggles badly with reflux and has since he was 4 weeks old. This positioner has helped in many ways:
He came home from the hospital with jaundice and had to be hooked upto a UV machine at all times for just over a week. Because of the short reach on the tube, we had to lay him down to sleep on our couch. This product kept him in place the entire time and kept him safe while he slept somewhere besides his crib.
In his early days, I would swaddle him and put him on his side. Not only was he able to sleep more soundly but I also had the relief in knowing he was not going to choke sleeping on his back.
He was also struggling with spitting up every time I would lay him down to change his diaper. I have the contoured changing pad and I purchased another inclined sleeper to put under the changing pad cover to keep him more upright when I change him.
Now that he is 4 months old, he has learned how move around in his sleep and he slides down on the wedge but I still couldn't live without it under the changing pad.
Customer Review: Very leary of this now .... Summary: 1 Stars
I have been using this since we brought our baby home. For the first few weeks it was a useful item. We would swaddle her in a kiddopotomous, and put her in here and she would sleep very well. Around a month, she started getting wrestless about being swaddled so we used a baby blanket. She started outgrowing this at about 5 weeks - we would find her with her head hanging off the top of the incline. I adusted the side supports so it was a little more snug, and farther down so that her head wouldn't slide off. Within a couple of days I woke up to find her under the blanket with her head between the two side supports. This to me is more dangerous than allowing her to sleep on her tummy! We were leary of potential suffocation! Our baby is currently 7 weeks old, I feel this was a waste of money considering it was only useful for a month. This product needed to be made about 6 inches longer, and the side supports needed to be made with a mesh fabric for breathability just in case the baby wiggles her way down. Good idea, but needs improvement.
Customer Review: My baby sleeps well in it Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not sure why people are saying this positioner is too short. My baby is very long. She's three months old and almost 26 inches long (95 percentile). She's been using this postioner since day one (literally) and is still using it. She was born at home and her first nap was in this positioner. The bumpers have Velcro on the bottom so you can position them to fit your baby. As she grew, we just had to move them down and out. We haven't had any problems with her sliding. The incline is not very steep at all. The thickest part of the positioner is only about two inches and since it's made of memory foam, her weight squishes it down some. I don't know if the fact that we swaddle her makes a difference though. She's very squirmy but relaxes once we swaddle her. She usually wiggles her arms free during the night (we don't swaddle her very snuggly anymore), but is still position right where I placed her. I don't know if this positioner made a difference in her sleeping since we've always used it, but I can tell you that she sleeps very well.
