Customer Review: OK, but not as good as the apron-style covers

As the mom of a one month old who is exclusively breastfed, I prefer using a nursing cover when I'm out in public and the baby needs to eat. It's a personal decision, but I find it difficult to stay discreet - especially with a baby who likes to pop off the breast frequently. I had high hopes for the Hotslings Nursing Cover, but it fell short of expectations.
Pros: Lovely fabric ! This is a stylish poncho-style cover that's a little less obvious than the apron-style nursing covers that are so popular right now. The asymmetric shape is good for maintaining coverage while nursing on either side and in either a cradle/cross-cradle or football hold.
Cons: Unlike the apron-style nursing covers, there is no reinforced piece at the neckline to allow you to peek under the cover to get the baby latched on. I still need to watch to make sure she latches well, and with this cover I can't see a thing. The two times I used this cover I had to have my husband prop the neckline open so that I could see enough to get her latched - that does me no good when I'm out in public alone with the baby! I've since used an "Udder Cover" and prefer the structured neckline, if not the styling and fabric.
Note: Unfortunately, Hotslings is now out of business. Their slings were great but this nursing cover just didn't meet my needs.
