Baby Products Reviews of Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Sweet Pea, Size 4Customer Review: my baby falls asleep in this every time Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start off by saying I am not a baby wearing person. I have an evenflo snugli, and really dislike it due to all the straps and buckles required to use it. But when my second baby came along while my daughter was only 19 mos, a baby carrier became a necessity. So I looked for the EASIEST, most convenient one I could find, and I was very pleased with the hotsling.
After following the website instructions for measuring yourself, I ordered my size. The sling comes with a DVD to show you all the carrying positions. One of the best things about it is it is super simple to use. No wraps, ties or buckles to fiddle with. It's easy to put it on and take it off and pop the baby in and out of the pouch. It also looks good, and you can order fabric to coordinate with your wardrobe. The sling tends to be a bit loose in the beginning, but after a wash it actually works alot better once everything shrinks a little.
So far I've been using it with my 2 month old son, who always wants to be held nowadays and he absolutely loves it. He tends to fall asleep within 15 minutes of being in the sling. Younger babies are supposed to be scrunched in the pounch, with their legs folded fetal position. At first glance you may think this is very uncomfortable for the baby, but young infants love this, as it mimics their cozy, curled up position in the womb. I always pull his arms out, and sit him up to face outward, so he doesnt feel too claustrophobic. He is now about 11 lbs, so not sure how long I can keep using it, as eventually he will want his legs free, and not sure if he will enjoy the "side saddle" position as much.
Now I dont tend to wear this for more than 30 or 40 min at a time, as I worry about his blood circulation with his feet scrunched in the pouch. also once he falls asleep (almost always), I usually want to take him out of the sling and put him into his bed. In any case, I wouldnt recommend this if youre looking for a carrier to wear for hours at a time, wax the car and make dinner in. Youre not going to get major housework done while wearing it. I also tried to nurse with it on and it was very awkward if you are anything more than an a cup. But it IS great for being hands free for light duties around the house, or as a supplement to a stroller when youre out and about. It's super light and rolls up easily into your diaper bag.
I definitely recommend it for new moms, or moms having a second child who need to carry the new baby, while tending to the first.
