Baby Products Reviews of Hippo Hookon High Chair - NatureCustomer Review: Overall very pleased Summary: 5 Stars
Love the seat! I have not had a single table yet it hasn't fit on. I have even used it at a picnic table at the park. I do agree with the others that it is a pain to break down for transport. But it isn't that big anyway and we just toss it in the back seat as is. My wife keeps it clean, so I don't know about that, but she hasn't complained yet. No baby-item is easy to clean.
I have one complaint. There are two red tabs which you press to lower the rods which hold the seat in place. I dropped the seat on a sidewalk one time and one of the tabs popped out. I was able to get it back in, but it has given me problems ever since. So don't drop this on concrete and you should be fine!
Customer Review: A Must-Have Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I were set on buying a highchair for our daughter until we realized that a highchair would take up a lot of space in our small dining area. We originally bought the all-in-one reclining booster. It was horrible! It was too big for our chairs, hard to clean and the toys on the tray were meant for an adult to push. Plus, our daughter did not like it at all. We returned the chair and bought the Chicco Hippo. I can't begin to descibe the difference. We can take it with us, the colors are neutral, it is safe & easy to use, and our daughter loves to sit in it with the "big" people. I recommend this item to all of my friends as a "must-have." It is a great chair!
Customer Review: A Must Have for Dining Out!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this chair after our daughter was out of the smaller car seat and started to sit on her own. We use it every time we eat out (about 2x a week) and have no trouble w/ it. It is pretty easy to set up (I'm a little better at it than my husband is) and comes off just as easy once you know the right way to do it. We like to have her right at the table w/ us and not in one of the gross resturant high chairs which she can climb right out of. The only thing bad I will say about it is that the legs don't stay folded when not in use. There should be some kind of lock to keep the thing closed. Ours didn't come w/ a bag so maybe that would help. Otherwise, we love this chair!!
Customer Review: Not as good as we had expected or hoped... Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this item b/c our son was too big for his baby carrier by 3 months old and he was too small for most other seats. This was OK. He is 8 months now and I don't care for this seat. It is just so upright in the back and since it's all clothy, it has no real support and I don't like that. He always looks so uncomfy. Plus we brought it to go to restaurants but you can't use it (not supposed to) on tables that only have 1 leg or many tables are too thick to attach this too. Just was a waste of money for us. My SIL uses hers still and her daughter is now 19 months old. So to each their own but for us, he likes his booster chair MUCH better and so do we.
Customer Review: We like it, but hard to clean and food falls on floor Summary: 3 Stars
We love the fact that you can have the babies (twin 9 month olds) in the chair at the table. The girls love it--BUT--Cleaning is very challenging and the girls have a lot of food fall on the floor through the 1-2 inch gap between the seat and the table. We spread out a plastic mat--yet another thing to clean after meals. I'm washing it for the first time today and getting the cover off was a challenge. The Hippos get especially dirty with food particles and I have to really work at cleaning it. Chicco should make plastic covers that serve as trays over the hippos and cover the gap to the chair. Then this would be nearly perfect!
