I'm not sure that the temp reading is completely correct, as my husband and I felt it was colder than reported and sometimes warmer than reported as well. We stuck it at the middle of the room away from vents and windows, and our thermostat showed a different temp as well. Also, you can only see the numbers if you look straight at it, can't see them at an angle. Otherwise, great idea. I would have purchased a normal room thermometer instead to save some $$$.Customer Review: Not Accurate ! - Better off with a basic household temperature gauge

Seemed like this worked for awhile. Then after a month or so I noticed the temperature reading was off. The nursery was about 70 degrees - and all this read was 77. I would unplug the egg - replug it in the middle of night when it would get cooler and it STILL READ 77.
I'd rather go with a household basic temperature gauge which probably costs less and is more reliable.
This is definitely not worth the price of of $30 in my opinion.

I bought this room thermometer despite all the bad reviews b/c I figured you can't believe everything you hear or read. In this case...you can! It only reads ONE temperature which is 77 degrees!! Doesn't move from that. I get frustrated and put it away and pull it out again like a month later and try again, but get the same reading, 77 degrees when I know it's a good 50 degrees outside & our air unit was off. I really love the concept and was looking forward to purchasing this when I was pregnant. After I set it up, however, the display malfunctioned (some of the digital bars were lit and others weren't - very nonsensical). We never got to try this product because I sent it back, and now Amazon has sent me an email that they can't ship me a replacement for another four weeks. Very bizarre. I bought this a couple of years ago to put in my baby's room to make sure the temperature was accurate. The temperature isn't always spot on (usually a degree or two high or low...), but it's close enough to give me peace of mind, knowing the room isn't too cold or hot. It works great as a night light, and now that my son is a little older it's nice to take along when traveling to make unfamiliar beds feel a little more like home.
