Customer Review: Worst Baby Monitor

This is the worst baby monitor I've seen. First of all, there is no option for "lights only" and the lowest level of sound is very loud, meaning there is no way for you to have it on at night without waking every one in the room. Two, it is not a clear signal. It had horrible interference no matter where I set it. Three, the battery life is very, very short. If you use it two or three times witbout the a/c adapter you'll have to change hte 9volt batteries--yes, 9 volt, not AA. Four, twice now, the batteries have died and the red power light still stayed on. But it wasn't transmitting any more. So I thought my baby was still asleep because the monitor was quiet and the red light was on, but when I went upstairs my baby was crying--what a horrible feeling! I might as well not have had montior at all. Five and last, the base that you keep in the baby's room does not have a good center of balance. It is too tall and not wide enough. I felt I had to have it on the floor because it might tip over too easily.
All-in-all, there really isn't one thing I like about these monitors. I would not recommend them, and I'm surprised that Graco made such a poor product.

These units work as advertised but they do pick of a lot of 60Hz Buzz and Humm. I find laying he unit on its side or moving a few inches etc will help.
These units are analog ( not digital ) and use the 49MHz baby monitor frequencies, thus if you expect to be able to hear a drop a pin in Jr's room these are not for you.
If you want a basic no-frills radio to hear Jr moving around or calling for you, these will work just fine.
The receiver units can run off AC ( via a wall-wart adapter ) or off a 9v battery, the transmitter is AC only.
(note: The receiver units do not recharge their battery when you plug them, thus you may endup using a lot of 9v batteries when you accidentally leave the unit on all day)
Pros: They work well
Cons: very susceptible to Buzz.

We have used this Graco Ultra clear Baby monitor for the past 4 years....with 3 children... and it still is working wonderfully. I recently thought that I would try and "upgrade" to a digital baby monitor and purchased the Mobi Digital, what a disappointment. It was not even half as clear as the Graco monitor. I am in the process of returning the Mobi Digital and will most likely stick with the Graco, since I have yet to find something that works as well and is as clear. We even keep the ceiling fan and a floor fan on in the baby room constantly and the reception on the Graco monitor is still crystal clear. Also, the monitor picks up baby even when it's placed 6+ feet away from the crib. Very happy Graco Ultra Clear Baby monitor customer here!

BABY MONITORS ARE SUBJECTIVE. That is, you have to find the one that works in your environment and realize that there is far too many items that cause interference to properly review a monitor for someone else. We have had this monitor for 2 children, and it has worked flawlessly FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT.
I am somewhat of a geek and bought this really cool looking 5.8Ghz, visual feedback monitor for our second child. The wife sent me back to store to return after 1 hour. She is usually right anyway.
This monitor works great and has no frills (LAME), but the point is to hear your baby crying and not program your TIVO. Hope this review helps...and remember - STOP READING THESE REVIEWS GO TRY A MONITOR FOR YOURSELF.

I have had this monitor for a year and a half and I have to say that I love it. I can carry it outside while my son is sleeping and be able to hear him perfectly. I also have a fan on in his room and although the fan is very near the monitor in the baby's room - it's not picked up so severly that you cannot hear the baby. I love that there are 2 monitors so I can leave them around the house and not carry them with me, but they have the option to run on battery (which actually can last surprisingly long) so I can unplug them if I want to. GREAT MONITOR (some interference from cell phones if directly in front of the monitor)...but now I am expecting baby #2 and am not sure if this monitor will work with no intereference in 2 rooms...
