Customer Review: Too much interference (from a sound machine)
Summary: 1 Stars

We just received this monitor to use in our second baby's room (due to arrive in a few weeks). I hooked it up in my 18 month old's room to test it out so we could see if we liked it before baby #2 arrived. We have a white noise sound machine in our daughter's room, which we have also ordered for the new nursery, and unfortunately the monitor picked up immediately on the interference even though it was on the opposite side of the room. I tried turning the volume down to the lowest option and it was still very audible, with a high-pitched "squeal" sound. When I tried switching channels, it got worse.

I am really bummed because I liked the other features - the nightlight w/ auto shutoff after 15 mins, the two parent receivers, etc.

Customer Review: Not worth the price
Summary: 2 Stars

This is an ok monitor. It seems to have good range and even has a nightlight feature you can use in the room but it has terrible feedback and goes through batteries like crazy. If I leave it plugged in, the feedback is ten times worse and so loud! Using just the batteries we can use it maybe one night and a few naps the next day. To make matters worse, there is no low battery indication so many times it has died on me and meanwhile the baby has been awake and crying for sometime. Now I feel like I have go upstairs and check on him every 5 minutes while he naps. For this much money, it should at least warn you when the batteries are low. Got out of the shower today to find it had died again. That's the last time, we're getting another monitor.

Customer Review: Love these monitors
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had the monitors for about 2 months now, and I love them! They are crystal clear and I have heard zero interference or static so far. I love the light feature, cause sometimes you think you hear your baby cry, but a quick look over says no, you're just paranoid. The nightlight feature on the main monitor is great too. Also, having two receivers is just wonderful. We live in a townhouse where all the bedrooms are upstairs, so we have one downstairs and one in our room (or whatever room we're in) upstairs and don't have to deal with carting monitors up and down the stairs all the time.
Haven't used these with batteries yet, as I'm not much of a wanderer when my babe is sleeping, so I can't speak to battery life.

Customer Review: Good value baby monitor
Summary: 4 Stars

We did quite a bit of research and were set on buying one of the Philips Avent products because we like the DECT technology (which we have in our home phone). In the end we decided to try the Graco Ultra clear II, saving somewhere in the region of $75. We have a 3 story house and have been able to use the monitors everywhere in the house. There is some buzzing so it might be a bit of annoyance in a bedroom but we don't use them in our bedroom so this isn't an issue for us. I like the simplicity of the product - we just leave each of the monotors plugged in and switched on pretty much permanently. We've owned the product for a couple of months and are happy so far. For $30 I think it's good monitor.

Customer Review: Massive 60Hz hum
Summary: 1 Stars

Pros: durable, AC power or batteries, visual meter corresponds to sound intensity, compact design.

Negatives: uses bulky transformer for AC power instead of a switching power supply. Very loud 60Hz hum.

Seriously the 60Hz hum is louder than baby cries. In some instances, the baby cries are drowned out. The 60Hz interence is picked up in the receiver's antenna and/or in the demodulated circuit. Switching channels does not help. Using batteries does not help. The 60Hz hum is sensitive reciever position and also to my hand (my body acts as an antenna). Therefore, I know the source is 60Hz EMI. I'm an electrical engineer. I know what I'm talking about. I'm not an idiot.
