Baby Products Reviews of Graco Ultra Clear 49MHZ Baby MonitorCustomer Review: Very impressed Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent little monitors. I've had no problem with static despite the number of electrical appliances running in and around my house. The sound is very clear and I rarely have to turn the volume up higher than the minimum. The light meter is very accurate and defines between baby noise and other noise (radio, fan etc.) well. I've read complaints about this model that you can't mute the sound completely which is true, but I don't know why you'd want to do that anyway, you might as well not bother having a monitor if you're not going to listen to it. Amazingly for such quality it's one of the lowest priced monitor sets on the market even at full price, and can often be found on sale so you really can't beat it.
Edited to add: Units seem very durable. I have dropped one of the units several times while using it as a portable and it still works fine, the battery cover has stayed in place and the casing hasn't chipped or cracked. Note: I've seen these priced at anything up to $100 from independent retailers. Be careful and shop around as they should sell for around $30.
Customer Review: Great monitors! Summary: 5 Stars
These monitors are great! They pick up every little peep from our baby but don't seem to transmit any extra sounds or noise. When the baby's quiet, we don't notice the monitors. The receivers can be plugged into the wall or run off of batteries, so you can carry them with you or easily move them from room to room. They work all over both levels of our home.
The transmitter unit has a nice night light on it that turns itself off after 10 or 15 minutes. If the transmitter is turned off or switched to the other channel, the receivers will put out static, which I think is a great warning that something's wrong.
Once in a great while we have picked up static from somewhere or something, but it remedies itself. We also sometimes use a white noise machine in the baby's room, and the monitor is just doing its job but ends up constantly transmitting that sound, too.
I highly recommend these monitors.
Customer Review: So far... really good! Summary: 5 Stars
I had a Fisher-Price monitor that I bought for my daughter five years ago, and it finally started failing (we had it on pretty much 24/7 for 5 years). I decided to buy a new one and found this Graco one with really good reviews and at a great price. It is really quiet! At first I was afraid it wasn't working because I couldn't hear my 7-month-old baby, so I tested it by having someone stay in a different room while I went and scratched the main unit and it was working just fine. I guess I was so used to the static I heard for years, that this incredibly quiet monitor really surprised me.
The main unit has a nightlight that stays on for 15 minutes. I really haven't used it much, but I guess that if you need a little extra light at night for an emergency (i.e. change a quick diaper or find a pacifier that fell on the floor) it would come handy.
I really recommend this product.
Customer Review: Definitely buy this Summary: 5 Stars
This monitor is fantastic! I can't figure out where all these complaints about static are coming from - it's no more static-y sounding than a conversation on a speakerphone. If you can hear static, turn it down a little bit and put it somewhere where you can see the lights. We are buying another set of them because they are so good, and with an upstairs/downstairs it's easier to have two monitors (one each level) and four parent units. We love that they don't *have* to use batteries - it's way easier to plug them in and know that they are always working.
In an air conditioned room, you could barely hear the tinkling music from the pack-and-play while you were standing right next to it; however, this monitor picked up the music loud and clear and broadcast it to the receivers. I came downstairs and couldn't figure out where the tune was coming from for a second... now THAT'S impressive!
Customer Review: Very Happy With Purchase... Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this item on the 14th, and it arrived the 17th (we paid for shipping). We were unhappy at first that we had to send to physical address instead of our PO box, but it got sent by USPS and it arrived on a Saturday, so that made us happy instead. This comes directly from the manufacturer and it got here very quickly.
This monitor was purchased for a disabled person to be heard by support folks. Having two receivers is very helpful. There are only two channels, but the first channel is nice and clear and only has noise once in a while (probably due to the use of other electronic items). The volume is quieter than a previous older monitor, but still is loud enough to do the job just fine.
We had thought of getting the Sony one, but this monitor had two receivers instead of one and was $10 cheaper. All in all, we are quite happy with the purchase.
