Baby Products Reviews of Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame

Customer Review: Worth every penny!
Summary: 5 Stars

This item has been well worth every penny I spent on it... and for the price, it's a real value. I already owned one of the Graco Quattro Travel systems, but I found that when I went somewhere with the baby on my own, it ended up being a pain to drag the 26 pound Quattro stroller out of the car every time we arrived at our destination. I have a bad back and was also recovering from a c-section and it just wasn't realistic to be heaving the other stroller around when I could find something much lighter and more practical for my day-to-day needs. That's why the Graco Stroller Frame is perfect! It only weighs @ 12-15 pounds (you'd have to check the Amazon specs) and it folds and unfolds so easily. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I've found that I like to get out of the house and make many trips to the mall or the store or the local park, and this stroller frame is perfect for all of those things (I use it with the car seat from my existing travel system). The storage space is perfect for toys, blankets, or for your purchased goodies (should you be out shopping).

I don't usually write reviews on items that I've purchased, but I was very impressed with this product. It was a great find. I've been using it for about 5 months now and I have yet to encounter any problems. The only negative I could think of is that the wheels are obviously smaller than any of the larger travel strollers, so it doesn't travel well through grass or dirt (but is ideal for pavement or even slightly rocky paths). Otherwise I give this stroller a big thumbs up!

Customer Review: A good deal for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I was originally going to purchase a Uppa Baby stroller before my baby was born (retail cost about $600). However, on the recommendation of the Baby Bargains book (and in order to save some cash) I purchased this stroller frame because I had done my research and I was definitely purchasing a Graco Snugride car seat and because I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted in a stroller. The car seat is fantastic. This stroller frame is a good deal for the money because: (1) it is pretty lightweight, (2) the basket that sits under the car seat is very large (large enough to fit my large diaper bag, my purse, my camera bag and more), (3) it is easy to insert the Graco Snugride car seat into it, (4) it was very easy to assemble despite the fact that I believe that Graco manuals are more confusing than they need to be, and (5) it folds up into a relatively small size and easily fits in the back of my compact SUV. On the other hand, this is not my ideal stroller because: (1) the wheels are not permanently attached and sometimes fall off when you are trying to open and close it (although this has never happened when I have had the car seat in and the stroller is in use), (2) there is virtually no shock absorption in the wheels and so riding over bumpy sidewalks without waking up the baby can be tricky, and (3) the wheels nearest to you do not move and so it makes the stroller hard to manuever. In short is it nothing fancy. However, since I only paid approximately $50 for it, and it works pretty well, I think it is well worth the money.

Customer Review: Like this a lot but a few cons
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like this stroller frame. It fits nicely in the trunk of my car, unlike many of the other travel systems. I love that it is sold separately from the car seat because it made for two reasonably priced shower gifts instead of one massive travel system that wouldn't have been affordable as a shower gift.

A few things:

- The wheels get tangled up after I close it so that I have actually injured myself trying to get it open. This is probably me just being dumb. When you realize where you need to untwist the wheels, it opens fine.

- Where the car seat attaches to the frame seems a little unsturdy, though we haven't had any problems.

- Be careful where you push this thing because it WILL tip over on rough terrain. If you hit a big enough bump in a sidewalk I can see this thing going over.

But, it is perfect for running errands at the store and I used it a lot that way. It is generally small enough to maneuver between tight aisles. The basket in the bottom is nice and big and fits many items. Many times I moved the sleeping baby from the car to this stroller to multiple stores and back to the car without waking him.

- I never bothered with the cup holder again after I put a soda in there once and the baby ended up wearing it.

- This thing was perfect the time the baby had a 103 fever and it was 90 degrees outside and no one was around to get me ibuprofen at the store and I had to take him with me.

Customer Review: A definite "must have" item
Summary: 5 Stars

My sister has one of these and when we saw hers we "unregistered" the big, travel-system type stroller and registered for this.

PROS:
1. Very light-weight. Can easily be held with one hand. I've even run my arm through the handle and carried it like a purse while I used my hand to hold something else.

2. Folds very small. Fits easily in the trunk of my car, which is about the same size as a Honda Civic.

3. Very easy to maneuver through narrow aisles of stores.

4. It's basket is very large and easy to get things in & out of.

5. Cup holder works well for any thermos or coke-can-sized container.

CONS:
1. When folded, sometimes the front wheels do this weird thing where they wrap around the bars holding the rear wheels, thus locking it into the folded position. To unfold it you often have to first jiggle the front wheels loose.

2. The red button/latch that is designed to hold it into the folded position is very flimsy. Ours almost broke within the first week of use and now is barely functional. When the stroller is folded, we can usually simply hold it by the handle and shake it to unfold it (that's if the front wheels haven't locked it into place!). You're suppose to push the red latch button thing in order to unfold it.

The two cons are very minor inconveniences and we've recommended this stroller frame to everyone we know who is having a baby in the near future.

Customer Review: Fabulous!
Summary: 4 Stars

We have the Laura Ashley travel system and while I love the stroller, it's heavy as all get out to lift in and out of the car. When you are just running into CVS or doing a quick errand with the baby in tow, it's really nice to just pop the car seat into the SnugRider frame and go. The SnugRider is light, it folds easily and it's perfect for a quick transport or even an all day shopping affair! (Please don't ever risk putting your car seat into a department or grocery store shopping cart!!!) I was able to put it together in about 8 minutes. At first the carseat got stuck on the frame and wouldn't release easily by simply pressing in the red release handle - I actually had to disengage the release clasp manually and the seat came out fine. I think this was because the padding on the bars that you rest the seat on was so thick when we first got it, it needed some breaking in and now we have no problem removing it with the normal release. What's also nice is that the handle bar is height adjustable. I'm 5'8 and when the handle is extended in the highest position it's heaven to push. My mom is only 5'2 and ususally sets the handle in the semi bent position and it's heaven for her. It rides smoothly and it's much sturdier and alot more attractive than the Snap and Go and similar models. So, even if you don't have a Graco car seat, the SnugRider frame will accept any carseat just fine. Definitely worth the extra money if you have it to spend!
