Baby Products Reviews of Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat, PlatinumCustomer Review: Good car seat Summary: 5 StarsThe snugride is great, the color is great for unisex, but maybe a bit too light for dirt and stuff...
Customer Review: Not the best! Summary: 1 StarsThere are many things I did not like about this carseat the minute I received it. It looks very cheap and it wasn't inexpensive. For $99 I expected more. In order to change the length of the straps you can't just pull or push a button to give more length like my last carseat. To move the handle down, the red buttons get stuck and you have to put all your might into it in order to move the handle down or up. Then when I put the carseat on the stroller, my husband had to remove it because it was stuck. The shade keeps on coming apart and again, just looks cheap. I am very unhappy with this carseat. I loved my last one and the only reason I can't use that anymore is because I needed a tandem stroller and
Evenflo doesn't have a tandem stroller. I suggest people don't buy this carseat if you want one that is well put together and not a pain to use.
Customer Review: LOVE THIS CARSEAT Summary: 5 StarsI just bought this carseat for my daughter who is due any day now and I absolutely LOVE it! It is great quality and my favorite part is how easy it is to get on and off the base. I definitely recommend this carseat!
Customer Review: Safe Travels!!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis Graco Snugride Carseat in the Broadstreet pattern is an excellent choice!!! It is durable, reliable, safe, and also has a gender neutral pattern which is great!! The colors are great, and installation is super easy.......and if you are not sure exactly how to safely install it, many police departments, and Triple A (AAA) Agencies can help you out!! The carrier is not too heavy.....and to us, was the perfect choice!
Customer Review: Not for preemies Summary: 1 StarsWe originally purchased the Graco Snugride car seat and stroller system, then our baby was born almost 7 weeks early. In all the research I did about car seats (Amazon reviews, consumer reviews, Baby Bargains book rec'd) I never came across any information about appropriate car seat fit for preemies. Luckily, the hospital NICU had a car seat expert and I was able to talk to other parents of preemies about the car seats they bought. I hope to pass this info on...
If your baby is premature and/or smaller than the avg newborn, you'll need a car seat that has 3 different slot heights for the shoulder straps. The top of the shoulder straps must sit at or below your infant's shoulder height. The Graco Snugride has only 2 options for the shoulder straps height.
Be aware that there are other brands that do have 3 height options but the lowest slot is often the same height as models with only 2. So just because a seat has 3 options, doesn't mean the lowest option is low enough to fit your preemie. It seems that many models with 3 shoulder strap height options are to accommodate babies as they grow, in that parents can use the same car seat until a baby reaches 30-35 lbs instead of the traditional 22 lbs limit.
Luckily, we were able to return the Graco Snugride without any problems. Though it was considerably more expensive, the only car seat that properly fit our 4.5 lbs, 17" preemie, was the Chicco car seat. We bought the Chicco Cortina travel system and are VERY pleased with the craftsmanship, ease of use, safety, and additional features.
