Customer Review: I wish we had gotten the regular snugride
Summary: 2 Stars

We looked at all the snugrides since they were highly rated on consumer reports (for safety) and compatible with our BOB stroller. We ended up getting the snug ride 32 because we figured it would last longer than the regular snugride but if I had to do it over I would have gotten the regular snugride for a number of reasons, mostly around it being too big:
- The 32 doesn't fit into most (upside down) high chairs at restaurants (too wide)
- I have an SUV (RAV4 so a smaller SUV but it is the larger 2009 model) and the front seat still has to be way up for it to fit. (It does fit ok in my husband's 4runner)
- I have a hard time carrying my son who is now 16 lbs in this seat so I couldn't imagine using the snap out function when he is double that weight.
- If you want your child to be rear facing until at least 2 years you'll need to get a convertible seat anyway so getting the 32 won't enable you to skip that step.

It's not a bad car seat and I believe it is very safe but for functionality I think the larger size is more of a negative than a positive.

Customer Review: 32 Pound Weight Limit is Grossly Inaccurate
Summary: 2 Stars

We have had this seat for exactly a year and our daughter is now 21 pounds - 25-50 percentile for her age. For the last few months, the straps have been very tight and almost impossible to close. We now have to buy a new car seat. We thought we were not properly adjusting the straps until we read other reviews here and found that this was a regular occurance - though the manufacturer holds the seat out as accommodating babies up to 32 pounds (hence the reason we bought this more expensive car seat), there is no chance this seat could be used for a baby close to that weight as the straps are simply too small. We also struggled getting our daughter's arms into the straps throughout her first year but assumed as new parents that it was our inexperience, not a design flaw. The seat has otherwise been fine, easy to use, switch between cars and use in a stroller. But the design flaw with these straps is pretty fundamental and if we could go back and do it again, we would not have invested money in the false promise of accommodating up to a 32 pound child.

Customer Review: My babies outgrew their Snugride 32 at 20 pounds
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought two of the Graco SnugRide 32 car seats for my twin babies. The car seats were great overall while the babies were little: easy to install/snap, easy to maneuver. We had them through the summer and I didn't feel that the babies were overheating in them. We kept two bases in my car and two bases in my husband's car and bought a double snap-on stroller. This whole system made my life easier and I was able to take the twins out of the house by myself. I don't think any other car seat would have been better. The reason why I feel ripped off is because there was no way my babies were going to fit in them past their 12 months at 20 pounds! By 8-9 months of age I started to notice that the straps were tight and could not get them looser. If you have a cute chubby short baby I think the 32 pounds limit will work but my babies were 20 pounds and of average height when they couldn't fit anymore due to the straps being so short. I wish I would have known this and bought cheaper car seats even if the promised weight limit was less than 32 pounds.

Customer Review: It's a nightmare if your baby is ~5 pounds
Summary: 4 Stars

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR SEAT IF YOUR BABY IS ~5 pounds.

Although the minimum weight is 5 pounds for this car seat, it was a
horrible experience with our 5 pound new born.

To give you an idea of how horrible the experience can be.

My wife fainted in a grocery store with Seizure, the baby was in breach position.
Doctors delivered the baby with a C-section. Baby had Jaundice. Had
to spend 4 sleepless nights in the hospital.

The stress/headaches of getting the new born home, in a 30 minute
drive was much more than all of the above combined.

It is big for a 5 pound baby. We bought a car seat padding but even
after that, the baby was not comfortable in the seat.

IMHO Graco should change the minimum weight to 8 pounds or so.

update 1/22/2011 : our baby is now 6 months old and weights about 15 pounds. this car seat
is working great for us now. So I changed to 4 stars from initial 2.

Customer Review: NO WAY You get to 32 Pounds in this seat
Summary: 3 Stars

My son is 21 pounds at 8 months and we've pretty much maxed out on this seat. I was hoping to use it until the one year mark, but there is no chance because the straps are way too short. I would have bought a less expensive seat if I knew that it wouldn't make it to the 32 pound mark. Now that it's fall, I can't even fit a light sweatshirt on my son and get the buckles closed. There's just no slack left in the seat at all.

Overall -- My son liked this seat a lot. It has always seemed cozy and safe, and he took many long car rides to see family out of state in this seat.

It does get warm in the summer time, but I've looked at friends' seat and I think they are all fairly similar.

The seat is also heavy, but I could handle that. I liked it because it was the safer. I just stopped taking the seat out of its base and brought my son to the car in my arms. I know people have complained about this, but if you have a big kid, you can only blame the seat so much.
