Customer Review: Great Carseat...
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this carseat for my baby when I was expecting because it just seemed the smart thing to do with babies coming into this world at 8+ lbs and 19"+ long! Well our little boy came into this world weighing 7.06 lbs and measuring 20" long! Most rear facing carseats only go up to 22 lbs and 22" long, so this was definitely a wise choice. He's only 13 days old and we have used the carseat on 3 occassions and so far so good! It's spacious enough so that he doesn't feel cramped or confined once buckled in. The downfall to that is that his head bobs a bit too much for me because the infant insert is still a little too big. We purchased an additional head support piece (not Graco) to resolve this issue. It works well... He was awake when he was placed in it the second time and he cried a bit but calmed down after he was all tucked in. The other times he was asleep and remained sleeping... The carrier is easy enough to remove from the base which is a huge plus. The colors are rich looking with a baby feel (the green), and can work for either boy or girl (I didn't know what I was having when I ordered it)...The straps are easy enough to adjust once you read the instructions. To date the carrier is not too heavy, but that may change once he puts on some pounds... Overall I love this carseat so far... If that changes I'll add to this later on.

Customer Review: effective but _very_ wide! hard to move in and out of car; much better than travel system!
Summary: 3 Stars

my son is now over nine months old. he weighs at least 19.5 lbs, maybe a bit more now. i think we can continue to use this seat until he is about 12 months old. we'll see. this seat works great with the graco snugrider! i'm so glad we got the snugrider and this car seat instead of a travel system. i still wince when i watch other parents breaking their backs moving bulky travel systems in and out of their minivans. a graco snugride and the snugrider are all you need for almost the first year, but we already got a peg perego pliko switch as a "real" stroller. it's nice to have the choice to use one or the other right now, at this stage.

the snugride 32 is supposedly safer than the standard snugride. the trade.off is that it is that it is _very_ wide. sometimes, in compact parking spaces, i need to back my car out and then have my wife take the car seat out and then repark. we often have problems inside our tight and cozy 2.car garage. i believe we're supposed to be able to use this car seat until my son is 32 inches tall or 32 pounds in weight. i'm not so sure about that. he's not yet 30 inches tall, but i always get scared that i'll bang his feet into things when i'm moving him around in this car seat. friends with the standard snugride have also commented that this one is quite heavy. anyway, i'm glad we bought it.

Customer Review: Excellent, excellent seat...but won't last you to 32 lbs!
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall, we have loved using this seat for our son. Comfortable for the baby, fantastic safety rating, easy to clean, easy to install, easy to snap in and out of the car, doesn't overwhelm the backseat of a small sedan, and isn't as heavy as comparable carriers (It is a bit lighter than the Chicco KeyFit 32. Less carrier weight is a must if you plan on toting your baby around in it much!).

My main reservation about the Snugride 32 is that it (at least in our experience) is not likely to work through 32 lb/ 32 in. My son is now 11 months old and 20 pounds and we're shopping for a new seat. The problem? The Snugride 32's harness. Although he has plenty of headroom and foot room, the harness (which I have let out as far as it will go) is painfully snug. My son is slim (10th percentile for weight) and never wears anything bulkier than a light jacket or sweatshirt because we live in FL. Nevertheless, the harness is extremely tight. If you have a heavier baby or live somewhere with cold weather, expect this problem to occur well before 11 months.

If I had it to do over, I'd consider buying a regular carrier that goes to 20ish pounds--that's about all you'll get out of the S32 unless they correct this issue in future models.

Customer Review: Do NOT buy - hate, hate, hate
Summary: 1 Stars

Okay, I'm not sure if this is the case for ALL Graco car seats, or just this one. But seriously, Graco - you need to do something about the straps. My baby is 6 months old and nearly 17lbs and yet I can barely squeeze him into this car seat. As it's now chillier out, I've started dressing my son in warmer sweaters and coats and yet I can't loosen the straps any more on the car seat. Trying to wrangle him into it is an absolute nightmare. Why Graco can't make car seats with longer straps to accommodate growing infants is a mystery to me. And what pains me is that I have no idea what to do. There is no way he'll make it all winter in this car seat - it's simply too tight (and I've adjusted the height of the straps already. The problem is that they just aren't long enough). And yet, I don't really want to fork out another $100+ on another rear-facing car seat. Gah. My other complaint is that the handle doesn't come forward enough so if you want to dangle little toys from it they just hang right in the baby's face. Lastly, it's already pretty heavy, which doesn't seem that big of a deal when you're carrying around a newborn. But once they get to be 14 lbs or so you REALLY notice how heavy it is...

Customer Review: Good and easy to use car carrier, but heavy

Graco SnugRide 32 Infant Car Seat, Zurich

We bought and returned a couple of car seats before deciding on this one. Some don't have easy release straps - a big deal as our baby hates the process of being belted in and out. The push button in front to release tension on the straps is a great feature and allow you to get the baby in and out quickly. The tightening strap in front also help make it easy to adjust the straps to tighten-up on the baby securely.

I wish the shoulder straps were long enought to be pulled completely out of the way of the seat when putting the baby in. Its a pain putting the baby in on top of the straps and then digging them out from underneath him to buckle up.

The pushbutton release on the harness is often tricky to get it to release.

the seat is HEAVY. I think they all are, but look for the features I've mentioned above + weight + saftey ratings and consider other similar styled brands. I like this one because its big enought to hopefully keep him in this car seat until he is 32lb.
