Baby Products Reviews of Graco Safe Seat Infant Car Seat, IonicCustomer Review: Wonderful Infant Seat for many reasons Summary: 5 Stars
After much research on-line, I went to the store to see for myself before settling on new seat for baby number four. The Graco Safe Seat was by far the nicest seat there. It has wonderful padding which by far exceeded any other seat, you can tighten or loosen the seat belt by pulling a strap or pushing a button on the front of the seat, the carry handle moves very easily without any chance of it moving by mistake, the seat snaps into and out of the base beautifully, and don't be fooled - all infant seats weigh about the same and yes they all feel heavy when you add a baby's weight to them. You do have to change the position of the shoulder straps from the back, but I can tell you from experience that you will need to take it apart to clean it more often then you will have to worry about moving the shoulder straps so it is no big deal. And, knowing that there is pretty much zero chance my baby will outgrow this seat before I am ready to move her to a forward facing seat means I won't have to buy a convertible seat. Also, the seat belt latch is of much better quality then some of the other seats I looked at and it works very easily.
Customer Review: Great Move Up From The Snug Ride Summary: 4 Stars
My family has been in 2 car crashes (both at holiday times, no less!) in the past couple of years, but thankfully, I'd done my homework, and our kids came out fine each time (Both crashes were at about 35mph, and our van was totaled in the 2nd crash if that explains the severity). Graco was there to protect them. My youngest was in a Snug Ride, but we've now moved him up to this seat.
It was a pain figuring our the very different strap configuration, but once we did, it's been easy to remember. He is very comfortable in it, and the seat pad is made of nice, soft material that washes well (he's already "christened" it). It is a little heavier than I was used to with the Snug Ride, however it feels sturdier and had a 8 lb higher weight limit, so that may be partly why. Also the handle adjusts more easily and not as noisily as the Snug Ride always did (I've owned 4 different ones). I was a firm Snug Ride ONLY mama, but I've now been won over by the Safe Seat.
Customer Review: the best infant car seat out there - period Summary: 5 Stars
For our first baby, we had a top-rated infant car seat made by Century. We did not like the fact that our baby was not leaning back properly and her head was always hanging to the front. Then we got the SnugRide as a hand-me down from a friend. It was ok, but outgrown too fast, so we lost the convenience of just taking her out of the car in the car seat instead of having to wake her up. LAst year we had our second baby and after using these two car seat for about a week (one on each car), my husband decided he hated them both and went and got this Safe Seat and two bases. Wow! What a difference. It is very comfortable. Our son fitted just right and seemed very comfortable. It is so easy to install and adjust. Our son is now 14 months, 31 inches long and 25 pounds and we are still happily using it... probably for another month when he reaches the limit. We are super happy with this purchase.
Customer Review: wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
Graco Safeseat pretty much guarantees you will not need another rear facing carseat for your baby. It is good until 30 lbs and 36 inches, that should take care of 99% of infants. I love the adjustment for the straps in the front, because you can easily adjust the straps so your infant is snug. They really squirm around a lot in the beginning and this makes it easier. The carrier and base seems to be type of infant seat that parents like best. The carrier does get heavy, but you can eventually leave the carrier in the car and place your baby in it in the car. at least you don't need to buy another rear facing carseat. After they reach at least 1 year and 20 pounds they can be turned forward facing and you can usually find them a second carseat that they can use until they are out of a carseat.
Customer Review: Glad I choose this one... Summary: 4 Stars
The Graco Safe Seat is a great infant seat. It is larger than most seats so it lasts longer. My baby is only 6 mths old but is wearing 12-18 mths clothes. It might be heavy to carry a large seat with a large baby in it but if your child is asleep you have the option to leave them in the seat.
There is plenty of width to the seat which I have seen some that are tight for a bigger baby. The seat belt is very easy to use because it don't have the puzzle type and when unbuckling just push the button and the belt pops out. Some seats require you to really squeeze hard and pull on the belts. It has the option to buckle the seat in without the base and fits in most carts and strollers. The only thing I didn't like was the handle could be more comfortable for carrying.
