Baby Products Reviews of Graco High Back TurboBooster Car Seat, WanderCustomer Review: No complaints Summary: 5 Stars
I have been reluctant to get a booster seat for my 2 kids since I invested in those convertible carseats that go up 100 lbs. Plus I know that 5-pt harness is safest.
But then the older the kids get the more activities they do...birthday parties, sports, theater, playdates, field trips, camp, etc. Transferring those bulky car seats is painfully inconvenient. So I got this booster seat for 5-year old daughter. And all I can say is, THANK GOODNESS! This seat is light, takes seconds to transfer from one car to another, and most importantly she is so much more comfortable in this than her convertible carseat. The side headrest cradles her head when she falls asleep unlike her convertible carseat where she just sort of slumps forward. She refuses to go back to her convertible carseat and I don't blame her! This was supposed to be our extra carseat but it's become the primary one for her now.
I have no complaints, I love this carseat and I can't wait to get another one as soon as my son turns 3 in a few months.
Customer Review: Great seat but depends on the shape of your car's rear seat Summary: 4 Stars
As others have mentioned this seat receives high marks from the IHS and Consumer Reports. It is a nice light weight seat that does the job it was designed to do.
We have one in three different cars (mine, wife, and grandparents) but it so light weight we probably didn't need to buy the third for the grandparents as transferring between cars would be easy. Then again, at less than $40 the hassle factor may be worth the third seat.
My only complaint is a caution to other purchasers: The shape of your back seat has a lot to do with the ease of use of the seat belt. I drive a Honda Civic with a back seat that has bucket-like seats. Getting to the seat belt latch can be difficult and because this seat has no tethering system it tends to 'float' toward the middle of the car making the seat belt access problem even worse.
My father-in-laws car has the older bench style seat and getting to that seat belt latch is not a problem.
Customer Review: Great as long as your child is ready. Summary: 5 Stars
We got this seat to have for short, quick trips with grandparents while we were visiting for several weeks. Normally my son, (6 years old, 43" tall, and 38 lbs) rides in a five point harnessed seat but it's very heavy and bulky, and difficult to move for quick rides. Since my son is big enough for the booster and responsible enough to sit properly, we got this one. Having the additional support and safety of a high backed booster was very important! This seat is easy to put together, easy to adjust for height, and comfy for my son. Though he did say he much prefers his harnessed seat in terms of comfort and how secure it feels!
However, a friend's 6 year old rode with us one day and used this booster, and he was not mature enough for it. He kept trying to move around and put the seatbelt under his arm. Be sure your child is mature enough to ride in a booster before buying, which isn't until age 6 or 7 for most kids, it seems.
Customer Review: Graco Highback TurboBooster car seat Wander Summary: 5 Stars
This product is an extremely durable, lightweight seat that is easily installed and easily removed. Utilizing the seatbelt guide, my vehicle's (2007 Civic Si) factory seatbelt securely holds my child in place and safely covers his pectoral over the shoulder and his lap at the correct position. This car seat may be used on either side giving more options for installation and making vehicle changes a snap. Please check your state's laws regarding booster seats. Each booster has it's own weight and height requirements and MUST be adhered to in order to maintain your child's safety! Please read your Owner's Manual to ensure your child will be in the safest position possible in the event of an accident.
Customer Review: Great value and stylish Summary: 4 Stars
Since we were in the market to buy 2 booster seats for our 2 cars, we didn't want to spend a lot, and it turns out we didn't need to. This model got a "Good" rating on the national highway safety website, so we felt confident about that. I was pleasantly surprised how stylish it was. My daughter (age 3)loves the 2 cup holders for her drink and the other one for snacks, a toy, etc. She can get herself in and out of the booster (and Mommy or Daddy buckles/unbuckles the seat belt). No cons that I can think of, although we've only been using it about 3 weeks now, so I'm not sure how durable it will be and if can hold up for years to come. We are hoping so!
