I loved these cups for months, used them with my first child. My major gripe with these Gerber cups is the design of the no-spill spout, which is a small plastic unit that insets into the lid. It's a small piece, which needs to be removed and cleaned carefully BY HAND, not just by throwing the whole lid unit into the dishwasher.
My son became violently ill one day after we had a mixup at my house, where a sippy cup made it from the car into the cupboard without being handcleaned, just cleaned in the dishwasher. I happened to open his sippy cup to clean it and found black mold in the no-spill spout. As soon as this was discovered (two days after he had been vomiting, feverish and lethargic), and we tossed the cups, he recuperated.
I advise parents against getting these cups on the basis of this experience. Sometimes things get hectic in the house, and things don't get cleaned as well as we may wish. Easier to go with a cup that has a less nook-and-cranny cleaning requirement. I wish I could suggest another sippy-cup, but my son was old enough to move to drinking cups with straws, which is what we did.
