Baby Products Reviews of Fresh Baby So Easy Baby Food and Breast Milk TraysCustomer Review: Great Idea but needs improvement Summary: 3 Stars
I was looking for a lidded ice cube tray for freezing my homemade baby foods and thought this would fit the bill. It's okay but needs some improvements.
1. The ice cube tray has too little compartments. It's smaller than the average ice cube tray so I was disappointed that it didn't fit more food.
2. The ice cube tray has very, very little "give." This means that once the food is frozen, I have to wait until my husband gets home to try to get the food cubes out. I could do it with a lot of effort - letting it thaw a little bit (but don't want to risk it thawing out too much) and then working hard to get it out. It would have been better if the material was more like silicone, so that it can release the food easily.
Customer Review: Ice Cube Tray with Lid Summary: 1 Stars
This product is just simply a standard ice cube tray with lid, only with smaller rectangular ice cube compartments. Each cube compartment only holds 15ml, not 30ml as advertised.
When I received these trays in the package of two, one was defective from the start. The lid would not seal onto the tray before freezing. The plastic on the lid was somehow defective and after trying for 30 minutes to get the lid to stay on the tray, I gave up and returned the product.
If the the lid actually stayed on, and each cube compartment really held 30 ml (not 15ml), it might be a good product.
I'd advise that you just buy a regular ice cube tray or a silicone one from Ikea and use that.
Customer Review: Just like regular ice cube trays, but pricier Summary: 4 Stars
Imagine- you put your babyfood in regular ice cube trays at night expecting to wake up the next morning to put the cubes into freezer bags but lo and behold! when you go to empty the ice cube trays ALL THE BABY FOOD CUBES HAVE ESCAPED and have run amock through your freezer ripping open other freezer bags and causing general panic and anxiety among the otherwise mellow freezer contents. But NO MORE! With these ice cube trays with lids they will be TRAPPED and unable to escape until YOU decide they can come out. Imagine the savings from the damaged food that won't need to be thrown out anymore- damaged by the destructive vandalism of your "innocent" little baby food cubes. All hail ice cube trays with lids!
Customer Review: Great for homemade baby food Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using these for a few weeks now, and so far have been very satisfied. I make my own food then spoon into the slots, cover and freeze, then remove the cubes to a plastic bag the next day. So far, I've been cleaning the trays and lids by hand and have not had trouble with fit. The main problem I've had, is trying to get the food out (otherwise I would give these 5 stars). The trays are very stiff and hard to turn like a traditional tray. I usually have to get my husband to put some muscle behind it and then he can get the cubes out pretty easily. With stickier/sugary foods (prunes, etc) we had to use a butter knife to loosen, but then they popped out. Overall, I've been very happy.
Customer Review: Works pretty well but NOT 1-ounce compartments Summary: 3 Stars
I have been using these trays to store breastmilk for about a week now, and I like the convenience and simplicity of these over the plastic freezer bags. However, the cube compartments do NOT hold one ounce. It is more like 3/4 of an ounce in each one. Perhaps you can fit 12 ounces in the tray if you come close to overflowing it, but otherwise the product's advertising is misleading. It does not really hold 12 ounces. My only other complaint is that the trays are very stiff, therefore it's a bit difficult to twist the tray to loosen the cubes. The cubes do not pop out--you have to use a thin knife or something to tease them out after loosening them with a challenging twist of the tray.
