I've tried a several different types of storage trays for freezing breast milk and baby food, and these have ended up being the most useful. I agree with other reviews that they don't hold 1 oz as advertized (more like 3/4 oz.), but the size of the cube that they make is why I've ended up using these trays the most. Since I use these trays so often, after the cubes are frozen I store them in Ziploc Freezer bags. For freezing breast milk, the cubes fit through the opening of our Playtex dropins or natural shape Ventaire bottles so I could thaw the milk in the bottle (all the other trays we have make cubes that are too big so you have to thaw the milk in something else and then pour it in the bottle). For baby food, we use the Take n Toss 2 compartment containers with the spoon holder in the middle and 3 cubes fit perfectly in each side. Other trays that I've tried makes cubes in different shapes and portions, and you have to defrost a cube first to make room to fit another cube. So overall, the amount that the trays hold doesn't really make a difference to me, and the smaller portions have ended up being more helpful than a problem.Customer Review: BPA-free, Durable, Good Value

My title says it all: BPA-free, Durable, Good Value. I use the trays to get perfect 0.5 oz. servings of home-cooked grains and vegetables. This is a fantastic alternative to either cooking small quantities fresh daily (who has time for that with a baby) or constantly feeding liquified sludge from a jar (ew). Don't get me wrong, Earth's best is awesome -- as like a topping to whole grain pasta -- but babies are people, too, and amazingly, they like FOOD! These are great trays. When the food is frozen, you can pop out the cubes and put them in a baggie. The cubes (in a baggie) won't freeze together after being frozen in the trays, and then you can use the trays for more stuff. If you're serious about cooking real food for your baby/toddler, I recommend getting at least 6. I have only enough room for 6 (and that was all I was willing to shell out for food trays), and although I have to put stuff in baggies quite a bit, 6 has been an okay quantity for me. If I had a bigger freezer, I would definitely go for more trays! P.S. I handwash mine. I'm not sure you can put them in dishwasher, but I think the handwashing helps them last!Customer Review: Great product, but measurements slightly wrong

This is a good product for prepping food for my son. It freezes the food well and neatly. However, as someone else remarked (I read reviews before purchasing), the cubes are not actually 30 mL as the product claims. The cubes are 30 mL if you fill it to overflowing, but the box doesn't say this. A non-overflowed cube space is actually closer to 25 mL. Of course, when you're pouring food into the cubes, as long as the food is the same (a whole tray of sweet potatoes, for instance) or you don't mind a slight mixing of foods, it's okay if it overflows a bit because it will freeze into a nice cube even with the overflow. Plus, food in the overflowed spaces doesn't freeze the same as overflowed water would freeze into ice cubes.
Perhaps the company should make the cubes a little deeper so they are actually 30 mL without overflowing.
In the end, it's been a great product. Easy to use, even easier to clean up. I'm sure regular ice cube trays would work just the same, but regular trays don't come with lids.

For my 1st child, I used a regular ice cube tray but I hated to pop them out of the trays because I always manged to scatter the cubes all over the counter and floor or I wouldn't transfer them to baggies because i dreaded the process of popping them out. Then the baby food would taste like all the other items I had in the freezer. For my 2nd child I bought these to give them a try. With this lid, I just twist the trays, place the lid back on loosely and tip it over. Voila! No more scattered cubes. Also if I don't get to popping the cubes out for a few days, they don't absorb the flavors of everything else. The food also doesn't get stuck in the trays and break apart like they do with any ice cube trays I have used. Maybe I'm uncoordinated when it comes to ice cube tray because I've never had any luck with any kinds ever. It's one of the reasons why I don't have ice in my household! After my baby starts eating more table food, I just might store ice cubes in the freezer again with these trays.Customer Review: Best way to store frozen baby food!

These trays are wonderful! I began making my own baby food when my daughter was six months old. You cook and puree the food, then fill the tray and freeze it. The thick, rubber lid stays on the tray and does not pop off in the freezer like some other product lids (Baby Cubes in particular). The food can then be popped out of the tray (like regular ice cubes) and placed into a zip-lock freezer bag for long-term frozen storage. The product is durable and of high-quality. I love using these trays as they hold a whole batch of food at one time. Once I freeze the food and transfer it into a zip-lock bag, then I just pull out what I need (usually 1-2 cubes of food) for each feeding. I then wash the trays and they are ready for the next batch of homemade food. I have put everything from pureed and cooked pumpkin to spinach to fresh plums in these trays, and the food comes out tasting great every time! I highly recommend these trays...you won't be disappointed!
