I'm buying these for my friend, so I have not actually tested these out myself. However, my sister loved them, which is why I bought them. She did not have any problem with the trays breaking, as she ran water over the bottoms to thaw the food a little before removing. (I do agree though, that if something looks like an ice tray, it probably should be made a little sturdier for twisting, hence the missing star)
However, I wanted to mention that the trays come TWO per package. I ordered four packages and was quite alarmed when I received a total of eight trays! I'm so glad BabyEarth's customer service handled my problem well.
