Baby Products Reviews of Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 7 oz Sippy Cup with Handle in BlueCustomer Review: Leaking Nightmare - Avoid! Summary: 1 Stars
I wanted a safer sippy cup after reading all the bad news about plastics, so I researched fairly extensively and considered Klean Kanteen, Sigg, and the Foogo. I bought two of these, and was very excited to get them. They look great, but truly, they are useless. They leak from the spout AND around the top where the lid screws onto the base. I've actually never really had a problem with a sippy cup leaking before (I guess I've been fortunate), but this is CRAZY leaking. If my 15 month old leaves it on it's side, in a matter of minutes, there is a small puddle. I've never seen anything like it. I think it has to do with the fact that the lid has 2 separate pieces (in addition to the valves).
I called customer service and they are willing to send 2 new ones if I mail these in, but that seems pointless since I have 2 and neither work. Since I'm not optimistic that new ones will work, I don't want to take the time to write the required letter, package them up, and then lose even more money by paying to ship them.
Bad Product Design!
Customer Review: Great concept, not a great product Summary: 2 Stars
I was very excited to buy this "sippy" cup for my one year old. He loves to throw things around and the idea of putting a few pieces of ice in the cup, toting it to the zoo all day and having his drink stay cold is worth paying the $15 per cup for. But...as time went on, I found out that money can't buy everything. The cup manufacturer claims that the cup doesn't leak. I can tell you IT DOES! Especially after the dishwasher, if you don't get the groves in place exactly right. And, if your baby pushes down on the mouthpiece at all while drinking, it leaks. Also, a big concern...I have noticed black mold-like dots on the yellow part of the mouthpiece, under the purple lid. I wash the cup after each use, and even boiled it to try and remove the "black" spots. I wrote a concerned letter to the good people at Thermos...it's been 2 weeks and I have not heard anything back yet. I am very disappointed!!! I would NEVER spend this much money again on such a poor product. They are making lots of great options that are BPA free now...use those instead!
Customer Review: Best of the BPA-free sippys Summary: 4 Stars
We've tried every major brand of sippy cup out there, plus a few of the lesser-known ones. None of them are truly leak-proof, even when everything's put together correctly. That said, the Foogo is the best of the non-BPA sippy cups. It's much better than another stainless-steel option, the KleenKanteen, which has no insulation, dents very easily, and leaks like crazy. The Foogo is the closest competitor (in leakproofedness, if that's a word) to the First Years Take N Toss sippy cups, which were the best we found in plastic sippys. (I haven't tried the Siggs because I've tried to avoid aluminum while waiting for more complete evidence regarding its association with Alzheimer's.) It's great that the Foogo insulates so much that milk doesn't smell bad even if it's been in there a few hours, unlike just about every other sippy out there. Just wish they weren't so expensive, or I'd buy several more.
Customer Review: leaky if not put together just right Summary: 3 Stars
my son picked this cup up in a store and did not want to put it down. they only had the pink one in stock so I bought it at amazon even though other reviews warned that it leaks. I was looking for a smaller, soft tipped, side handle, bpa free, insulated sippy cup. This one met all the specs.
The problem with it is it has a 4 piece cap and two separate pieces for the valve. If all of these pieces do not come together and screw on the cup perfectly we have milk all over the place. It comes together leak free about twice a week and he gets two cups full most days. So I guess that means it is leak free 20% of the time. Even when it is together properly about 1/3 oz of liquid sits in the tip area between the holes and the valve. This inevitably spills.
I would still buy it again but hope someone comes out with a cup that meets my specs that has a simpler design soon!
Customer Review: leak proof? Summary: 2 Stars
did i misplace a piece to this cup or something? it leaks ALL OVER. my 18 month old son loves turning it upside down and it literally pours out of the spout... like there's no valve in at all; and because he's 18 months and CAN pour out all that water, he does it every chance he gets. these babies are pretty pricey for a cup my son can only used while being supervised. also... the mildew is disgusting. i didn't know the spout piece came out at first and when i figured it out? ew -- it was black. my son does not drink juice and has never had milk in that cup, i guess the moisture just got caught in between the lid and the spout piece and harbored a whole lotta bacteria. i have to be very conscious to clean all the little crevices when i wash this cup. it's such a great idea, it's very nice looking and it keeps the cold water cold, but it just doesn't work.
