Baby Products Reviews of Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 10 oz Straw Bottle in PinkCustomer Review: GREAT FOR SCHOOL Summary: 4 Stars
I bought one of these for my 2 year old daughter, because I did not want to carry around a sippy cup. Once I received it I was thrilled. My daughter started to drink more water and loved to carry it around. I did have to drop a star on the rating because one of the straw's was bent upon arrival and it makes it difficult to get the top on correctly. We now have two of these at our current house and one at our summer house. I have also bought 6 more for fellow teachers who wanted something that was not plastic, easy to use and clean, and keeps drinks cooler longer. My daughter has dropped hers out of the truck onto the asphalt many times, and I did have to superglue one of the bottoms back on. We have thrown one into the beach bag which will sit outside in 100+ temps. for hours at a time. In 80-90 degree weather the ice lasted through a 3 hour pool pay session. I would recommend this water bottle to anyone. We love ours (it will leak of not closed! or inserted correctly). It goes anywhere and still hold up.
Customer Review: Good, but not perfect Summary: 4 Stars
We have had this bottle for about 6 months, and I do like it. The cap and straw mechanisms are great. The straw is of high quality and is easy to clean. The cap closes tightly and opens easily.
I would recommend it. The only problem is that on one of its many drops, the bottom pink plastic broke. It is glued to the bottom of the bottle itself (plastic-to-metal), so the break just caused a crack on the side "wall", and made a protruding pointy piece that was sharp and hard. Not good. I had to struggle with pliers to rip out the plastic and scrape off the glue in order to make it useful again.
The plastic should be more resistant to the inevitable drops.
Another minor issue is that it is of substantial weight. It feels "solid".
I would recommend it because it is a superior product, save for the bottom plastic breaking.
Customer Review: Great thermal properties, holds fluid well.... Summary: 5 Stars
We have 4 of these: 2 are about 2 years old and 2 are just over a year old. They used to come with a replacement for both sides of the straw itself, and we have yet to use any of them. The instructions on mine say that it should not be put in the dishwasher and harsh chemicals should not be used when washing. Yes, it is harder to clean than a regular cup, but IMHO it is easier to clean than any flip top straw cup or leak proof sippy cup I have seen. The key is to rinse it once you get home.
The great thing about these is that they keep fluid cold a very long time, and they don't leak if closed properly. Add 4-5 ice cubes to your cold drink and it will keep it cold for 5-6 hours inside a sitting car on a hot summer day. Also, I'd rather have my kids' drinks sitting in stainless steel than plastic.
Customer Review: Not leak proof, not kid (or mom) proof Summary: 2 Stars
I love the look of these bottles, the fact that they keep liquids cold (to some degree; I live in the desert), that they aren't plastic, and that they have a straw. That's all I can recommend.
We've cracked and broken the plastic lid simply by dropping it on the tiled kitchen floor. Replacement straws are available from Thermos, but not lids.
The bottles do leak -- especially if they're bounced around a jogging stroller...and beware the projectile spouting if you flip open the top on an airplane or after driving up a mountain! If you leave the bottle in the sun too long, and flip the top you'll get "peed" on too...
However, because of the straw and the stainless steel, I'll keep buying them. Wish our Siggs came with a straw option...
Customer Review: Love this bottle Summary: 5 Stars
Better than having to remember to pack juice boxes in a cooler/insulated lunch bag or a bottle of water that gets warm. Keeps things cold a long time, so it's great for travel, a hike or trip to the park. I like this much better than a Nalgeen type bottle - less plastic off-gassing. Only downside is that they don't recommend putting it in a dishwasher, so it takes a minute to handwash since the straw mechanism breaks down into three parts (plus the screw off top and base, making 5 parts). But the mouth is wide enough to clean easily. Loved this so much I bought the larger stainless steel adult version of the flip top to replace my plastic water bottles - nice having cool water for a change, even if I leave it in the car for a little while.
