Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Zen Collection Infant Seat

Customer Review: Looks great, but doesn't do much
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this chair for my daughter. She has used it since she was first born. She is now six months old and will still stay in the chair for a while.

Pros: The chair looks great! This is what attracted me to the chair in the first place. It's not an eye sore like most other baby products. I like the sounds and the vibrations are very smooth and quiet so that's also nice. It is lightweight, easy to clean and not so big that it gets in the way all the time.

Cons: the little dragonfly that dangles above doesn't do anything! I often have to place other toys in the chair with the baby so she is entertained. I wish that it at least moved. My baby hardly looks at it. It sucks batteries pretty quickly. Another comment mentioned forgetting to turn it off because it is so quiet and that is true. I have accidentally left it on so many times that by the time my daughter was a few weeks old the batteries were already dead. I wish it had a timer or something to turn it off. Also, the arm that holds the dragonfly falls out easily. I usually have the baby in one hand and have to move this with the other so sometimes the arm falls out when I am moving it around.

I am 50/50 on whether or not I'd buy this again had I known what I know now. Overall, I am pleased with it, I just need to supplement with other toys.

Customer Review: Sweet, safe, attractive secure seat for boy or girl
Summary: 5 Stars

I put this together before my sister's baby shower. This vibrating singing chair was very easy to assemble, just needed a philips and batteries. It is ever better than we expected. It is so welcoming - soft, cozy egg shape, natural colors and the sounds it makes aren't trilly or irritating like alot of baby stuff out there, just soft rhythm; many of the adults at the baby shower were playing with it and wanted a grown up version of it! It is lightweight but sturdy. That baby aint goin' nowhere! The back legs can fold for easy transport and snap safely in place again. There are rubber floor catchers on the bottoms of the legs so the seat doesn't move around or lose traction; but you won't be able to slide it across the floor, only pick it up. It is lightweight, though and has handles. It has a bug of some sort - I think a dragon fly bug - on the mobile. I am not partial to bugs but this one is cute and the eye placement on the bug is in a good spot because eyes catch baby's attention. All in all we really loved this chair. She's going to put it in her formal living room. Very sweet seat.

Customer Review: Almost perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

We've used this seat since my girl was born. She's about 3 months old now. It's very comfy. Sometimes she sleeps in it. When she was new it was the only thing she would sleep in. Mostly I use it for her to sit in while I'm busy in the kitchen. She can be safe and comfy and watch me while I'm busy. She doesn't seem to care yet whether it's vibrating or not. The music is ok. I keep it pretty low, but you can turn it up louder. The little hanging dragonfly is cute, but I wish there was something she could interact with. The back leg is adjustable and collapses for travel. But it still isn't easy to travel with. The front leg should collapse too to make it easier. The handles on the sides are great for when I need to pick it up and move her to a different location. I haven't had to change the batteries yet... even though I'm always forgetting to turn it off. It has an auto-off after awhile, though. All-in-all I love it and can't live without it.

Customer Review: It's very pretty, but my baby doesn't really care for it
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had this sitting on my kitchen table, and I've been using it as a place to set the baby down so I can use both hands to do a quick task like get myself a drink or a snack. Unfortunately, he doesn't like to be in it for more than a couple of minutes. The vibration, music, and mobile don't seem to appeal to him at all. If he's already whiny or crying, he just cries harder when I put him in this seat. The Fisher-Price Rainforest Bouncer, while not as attractive as the Zen seat, is much more interesting to him because of the waterfall and moving characters. He'll sit happily in that seat for up to 20 minutes. Now that that he's big enough to sit in the high chair and activity center, those will be our new short-term baby parking spots.

Customer Review: Great chair
Summary: 5 Stars

We recieved this chair two weeks ago and our 3 month old son loves it. He will not take naps in his crib, so we had to get him something to sleep in (other than in my arms). He LOVES sleeping in his chair (as well as just sitting in it watching his big brother). The music is very soothing...lullabies with an Asian twist. Plus some nature sounds that include hearbeat sounds. Plus, it has a volume control. Also, the vibration option for the chair is a lot smoother than other chairs we have had. I don't mind turning it on with this chair...no way with our old Graco bouncy seat. The chair is easy to fold up and carry (very lightweight), so you can carry the chair in one hand and the baby in your other arm. Note: this is not a bouncy seat.
