Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Zen Collection Infant SeatCustomer Review: Problematic Design Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this chair because it's kind of unique compared to other bouncy seats, but after 4 months of regular use by my twins, I'm not a huge fan. It's okay. It has 3 soothing vibrations speeds and unique music, but there are a number of problems. The first one is that the arm won't stay in the socket and can fall out onto the baby. Next, the footprint of this chair is quite large, especially compared to other chairs. If you notice from the picture, the feet extend beyond the cushion. What this means is that I trip over it periodically. It's also difficult to move quickly due to this wide design and the fact that the arm falls out. My kids loved the dragonfly hanging toy for several weeks when they were about 2 months. It quickly became old after that. I end up putting other toys in the chair to keep them entertained. Finally, this chair sucks down batteries! Now I know many baby products do, but because the vibrations are so quiet, I end up leaving the chair running without a kid. My other vibrating chairs are louder so I remember to turn them off. They need a light or something to remind you the chair is on. Other than those numerous design issues, the chair seems pretty cozy. The seatbelt mechanism works well and holds a baby at a nice angle. I liked this especially for my son who was so little when born because it held him at a bit of an angle but not so much that he squished down too much like when in a car seat. People talk about how the colors are nice, but I still find it way too busy. I think a "Zen" chair would be one solid color. This still has too many colors and textures to really blend into your decor. While this chair isn't awful, I would suggest a bit more research before you buy. I would also encourage you to see it fully assembled at a store to see if you like the design.
