Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair - TanCustomer Review: I wish I would've bought this before I bought our full sized high chair! Summary: 5 Stars
all I can say is wow! I am completely amazed at this product, we have a full sized high chair the graco Contempo and have been using it for my two children ages 1 and 2 years,I was looking into another full sized high chair, but my 2 year old has recently wanted to start sitting at the kitchen table, so I would try to boost her up to reach the table, Ive tried phone books (yes I am old fashioned) and pillows etc, so my husband and I have been looking up booster seats, and this one seemed to match everything we wanted,we wanted to be able to use it for both children, and when my children were bigger use it as a booster seat. and also like the fact to use our existing chairs rather then having a high chair out in the kitchen all the time. my 2 year old is petite so she still can sit comfortably in the infant part, so I can use it for my 1 year old also and put away the full sized high chair! finally more space I need in the kitchen! I have just ordered another for my son, because this space saver is even better then a full sized high chair, consider the space saver before buying a full sized high chair, you will thank me!
Customer Review: Not for 90%+ Babies ... but WAIT! Summary: 2 Stars
I am one of those moms that reviewed the day lights out of every item I bought my first child. I really liked this design but I am going to have to give it 2 stars for the big babies. My son is in the 90% percetile for height and weight and I could not use this chair past 5 months. I think it's a good idea and luckly it only cost me $50. If you think you may have a big baby I would not go with this chair. I am now trying to find a high chair with more room for the shoulders. It looks very wide in the pictures but my sons little shoulders were really tight and he was so uncomfortable that he refused to eat in the chair. I hope this review helps.
Update: There is hope for this chair! I took the padding out and I have been able to use it and it's great! Part of the problem is the poofyness of the padding and the straps, which are scratchy and distracting. With the straps gone my big boy, who is now 7 months old, eats in it every day! Whew! I really loved the chair and with a few adjustments it is a fine chair to feed your baby in. I now give it 4 stars.
Customer Review: easy to adjust, one design flaw Summary: 4 Stars
We've used this for six months, and the seat has mostly lived up to its billing. We chose this seat instead of buying a second First Years seat ( The First Years Swing Tray Portable Booster Seat) because reviews suggested this one was the easier one to adjust. We agree; adjustability is one of its best features. We're glad we switched.
One star off, though, for the fabric seam on the otherwise easy-to-wipe coated seat. When our baby slaps at the spoon, inevitably that seam ends up with orange mush on it. Surface cleaning with a sponge and mild soap hasn't kept it from getting dingy. Guests don't notice the spots, but I do. Seems as if F-P could have simply coated it like the rest of the seat.
Other small con: its tray is larger than the First Years' one, and is difficult to fit in a dishwasher. Tray also catches sometimes, and requires a second try to push it into place, which wasn't a problem the first three months. Still, I recommend it.
Customer Review: Good product but not full-size Summary: 3 Stars
This is a nice-looking chair and fairly easy to put together except for the fiddly straps (I'd suggest leaving out the shoulder straps as they make it hard to put baby in and will make you curse like a sailor as you try to thread them in the slits in the chair cushion). But there are two important (and one minor) drawbacks: one, the dimensions cover the full product, and this includes the wider base, so the actual cushioned seating space for the child is kind of small - my seven month old fits in it but he won't fit in much longer - think small infant car seat and you get the idea; two, the product is attached to your chair with straps and the safety straps to keep the child in are attached to the seat padding by threading straps through slits and hoping that the doubled-over stitched end of the strap holds. I did not feel particularly secure with this arrangement though I have not tried other high chairs to see if they work differently. Small drawback: the chair is not light and easy to move around when you attach it to your full-size dining chair.
Customer Review: User-friendly Summary: 5 Stars
We live in an older home with limited storage space. I didn't like the idea of a full highchair that would take up lots of room either in the dining room or stored when not in use. This is a perfect alternative. It installs very easily (my 12 year old brother can do it) with just two straps/buckles. One thing that I didn't realize would be such an asset, is that it is easy to transport (to grandma's house mostly) and that makes life much easier.
The chair is basic, but has everything that you need. The seat reclines to help support little babies who are just able to sit supported and then tilts more upright as your child can sit more independently. The tray is dishwasher safe (woo hoo), and the cover is easy to clean. It's also a great value in terms of the amount of use it gets for a relatively low cost.
If I had any complaints, it's that there were limited patterns when I purchased this. But, it appears that there have been some new patterns added within the last year which are much cuter.
