Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Sounds'n Lights MonitorCustomer Review: Much better that the pricey ones! Summary: 5 Stars
We received a very expensive monitor for a shower gift, (it was a 900 MHZ), and it was awful. We then went and bought this and it works 10 times better than the more expensive one! There is a TINY amount of static, but you get that with any monitor. You can hear absolutely everything if you want to! If it's turned up loud enough, you can even hear your little one sleeping peacefully. I've had it for almost a year now, and it is my most favorite baby item we own. I recommend leaving it plugged in because the battery life isn't long, so buy one that has two receivers instead of one to put in different areas of your home. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED OVER ALL THE OTHERS!
Customer Review: ticking sound Summary: 5 Stars
this is a fabulous monitor, we've been using it for a year. it is certainly the most sensive, and we can keep it located centrally, plugged in, and only use the battery as back up on occasion. as far as some of the other concerns: if it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries and you would like some....buy some! you can use them with anything you want! also, the person who rated it low and mentioned the constant ticking sound, girlfriend, that is the clock in the baby's room or a nearby room. yes, it's that sensitive. as far as baby sounding like he's in a tunnel, i'm not sure the sound quality is an issue, just what each little sound means to you.
Customer Review: Better than the expensive brands Summary: 5 Stars
Before purchacing this monitor, my husband and I tried 3 different monitors ranging in price from $70-$100 from Angelcare, The First Years, and Graco. We had NO luck with any of them. They were very staticy, wouldn't work if near a cordless phone, and our baby sounded muffled or like a computer voice. Fed up, we finally decided just to go out and buy a "cheap" one, thinking it can't be any worse than the others. What a pleasant surprise!! This monitor is so clear and sensitive you can hear the baby breathe! The sound quality is excellent as if the baby was right there in our room. I can't say enough of how happy we are with this monitor.
Customer Review: Love the monitor! Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this monitor when we transitioned our 4 month old out of the bassinett in our room, to his crib upstairs. I work nights and was worried that my husband wouldn't hear the baby wake up. We set the monitor on the dresser across the room from the crib and let me tell you it picks up perfectly. It's crystal clear as well. You can hear baby inhale, exhale, grunt, change positions...even little baby toots! :) The range is great as well, we can take it out in the yard and it still works. To wrap it up, this monitor does the job and is not expensive. We're actually going to buy one for grandmas house. Great purchase!
Customer Review: Great, inexpensive monitor Summary: 4 Stars
I've used this monitor with my five month old from the start and have also traveled with it to my father's house, so I know it works well in either small or larger houses. The price is great and I like the design, and a high quality 9 volt battery lasts a long time in the receiver. There is sometimes some static, but that's easily remedied by moving the receiver a bit. I love how sensitive the monitor is, I can hear the smallest sound my daughter makes, and if the sink or vacuum is running, I can see the lights. I'd give it 5 stars if there were never any static, but I doubt any monitor exists that isn't static-y sometimes!
