Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Royal Stepstool Potty, Pink PrincessCustomer Review: Great in the beginning, but then a pain Summary: 3 Stars
This chair was great for the first week of potty training. My daughter was always so excited when the music played and it made her feel so proud. I'm fairly sure that without the music, she wouldn't have been as motivated to keep pottying on the potty chair.
However, once pottying on the potty chair became routine, this chair really started to become a pain. Her pee winds up all over the place. Granted, some of that is simply the fact that she needs to learn better aim, but I have seen other models out there that I'm certain wouldn't cause nearly the mess. We're now in the routine of putting a fresh hand towel down underneath the chair every morning to catch all the pee that leaks all over each time she uses this. I've also taken the music box off of the chair (after the first week, she really didn't need the music anymore) so I can just put the entire potty chair in the shower and spray the entire thing down every night because the pee winds up in all the nooks & crannies.
I read somebody's review about transitioning from potty chair to using this on the toilet. The review said the pee leaks from the seat (attached to the toilet) down onto the potty chair (being used as a step stool). I know exactly what that reviewer was talking about and now I realize that using this as a step stool for the toilet is worthless because I'll have pee all over the place.
Again, I'll say, great chair to get your toddler started with potty training. But after that, look for something new to avoid pee mess all over your floor, your toilet, your hands, your child's legs, and everywhere else you can possibly think of.
Customer Review: LOVE IT!! MUST HAVE IT!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am training my third child (2nd daughter) and I am thrilled with this potty chair. So is she, which is why I am thrilled. The size is perfect and it is very stable.
However, the music is where it is at. I wish I could catch a picture of her face when she goes and the music plays. It is like a happy sun rising! Yesterday, she went 4 times successfully. Admittedly, it was about a tablespoon each time, except for one. However, at this point I am more interested in getting her focused in a positive way on going on the potty. Plus, since she is motivated to hear the music, she isn't just waiting to go, I believe she is making herself go. There is a big difference between actively causing it and happening to be on the potty when it happens. She practically runs to get there and then skips away for her M&M reward.
This morning when she got up, she ran downstairs to go on the princess potty over the pink Baby Bjorn potty that is in the bathroom across from her room. And she went! I just ordered my second princess potty, 2nd day air, so I don't miss this opportunity. To me, it seems relatively stable as a stepstool, but if that is your concern, get a Baby Bjorn stepstool and only use this as a potty.
I am very pleased with this product.
Customer Review: Should've listend to the other moms.... Summary: 2 Stars
the child can easily reward herself by finding the switch on this magical potty, although my daughter does sit on it longer it is a shame I spent so much money on this potty for the color and design for basically having something she can reward herself for whenever she feels. it makes me feel angery. not with my daughter, or myself, but with fisherprice for not thinking this over to make it so easy to get ahold of the rewards for the child.. not much I can do now but work with my daughter and do what I can with her since I was so goable to buy such a product... might be nice for a younger child that won't be looking everywhere for the reward system, but my daughter found it first day we got this and I thought it was the anwser to all our potty training problems till I found out nothing in the potty.... guess it depends on the child beware of the fisherprice potties, I am sticking with a potty that goes ontop of the adult potty since I already have a step stool...
Customer Review: Not safe as a Stepstool Summary: 2 Stars
First of all, this chair is adorable. Pink, simple, and it plays music!
The seat is easily removed to use as a seat on the big potty.
My problem is a big one: This chair is NOT safe as a stepstool. Perhaps I received a defective one, but the lid (which is also the stepstool) is really loose in the joints. When we closed the lid, it easily shifted around (not safe!)...and there was no anti-slip grip of any kind on the lid (again, not safe!). Seeing as the primary users of this chair are most likely messy little kids, the odds of liquid spills are pretty high. Liquid + unsafe stepstool = Visits to the ER.
We really had high hopes for this potty. Fisher Price really let us down on this one.
For the money, you could do better elsewhere.
Customer Review: Made without the parent in mind Summary: 1 Stars
This seems like a great potty. It is a chair with a removable ring for the big potty and the boy version's penis guard is actually big enough to hold your toddlers pee in the toilet. Your child will like being rewarded by music and being able to use it as a step stool
You will NOT like cleaning this thing. Inevitably the lid will get dirty and then you will have the joyful task of cleaning poop and pee with q-tips because the stupid little holes on the thing (which serve NO PURPOSE) are so deep.
There was no concept of the end user in mind when this thing was designed. It has way to many crooks and crevices for something that gets peed and pooped in. Cleaning it will be a nightmare. Don't buy this potty, unless you are a glutton for punishment.
