I purchased this as a suggestion from my mother-in-law. At first I was skeptical because I'm not usually a big fan of battery-operated/electronic baby items but this one is a gem! I have a 5-day old baby and he really seems to respond to it. Although he is not yet sleeping in his crib we give him a little "rainforest" time each day in it. He instantly calms down when the rainforest sounds come on. We haven't tried the music or lullabies on him yet but they sound a lot better than I thought they would and am excited to see how he likes them.
I also like the auto shut-off feature which will save battery life. BTW-it comes with batteries which I thought was a bonus. So far this product really is a "soother" as it claims. I would recommend this to other parents.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I feel there isn't enough variety of music. I am spoiled by the Ocean Wonders, but my daughter doesn't seem to mind. We originally bought this for the baby we are expecting, but then to bribe my daughter to sleep in her "big girl" bed, we told her that she could have the monkey music box if she made the switch. It worked! We attached it to the headboard so she can tap it for light or entertainment. LOVE the fact that the battery compartment is incorporated into the music box so she can bash it all she wants and the compartment won't come loose (like on our Ocean Wonders). LOVE the fact that without lights and motion music will last 18 MINUTES!! Glad we bought it! Highly recommend.Customer Review: a must have

I was against getting a lot of baby gear with lights and music and didn't register for it, but someone gave this to me, describing it as "crack for babies." Probably not the best analogy, but I'm really glad I have the soother. It plays really nice, soothing music along with nature sounds. You can set it for just nature sounds if you don't like the music. And the soft blue light and gently moving animals help distract baby long enough for him to forget that he doesn't want to go to sleep and drift off into dreamland. It's also so easy to operate that my baby figured out how to turn it on from about 3 months old. Sometimes I'll hear it come on in the middle of the night if he wakes up, and it helps get him back to sleep.Customer Review: Love It!!

I received an Amazon gift card as a shower gift. Never used Amazon before, it was a great experience! This is one of the items I bought for my brand new baby. From the beginning she has loved it. The music, lights and motion keep her watching. Now that she sits it keeps her entertained while I'm putting away clothes. She can usually push the button by herself to get it going again. I think this is a great toy. It plays longer and is easier to restart than any others I've seen. At night we use the low volume, daytime it's on high. There is also a choice of which effects you would like to use. One comment mentioned lights too bright, just make it motion and music they can watch by nightlight. I've had this soother since my little one was about 3 months old. He's now 20 months and it's still a nightly ritual. It would truly be a perfect item if it had the option of using electricity, as opposed to batteries (I go through a new set probably every 2-3 months, which isn't bad, I guess...) and if it had a remote control to keep it going from a distance. My little one likes the music, lights and bubbles, but you can only get this "combo" for a short time (6 minutes). While he can restart it as often as he likes now, it would have come in handy in the earlier months when I had to sneak/crawl into his room and hit the restarter button, and hope to not to be seen. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this soother!
