Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-Boo SootherCustomer Review: WHEN UNPACKAGING, DON'T CUT THE GREEN STRAPS!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Don't do what I did. When you take this out of the box and begin unpacking there will be two green straps that you will naturally mistake as some fastener holding the product in the box. It isn't. It's the straps that hold the device to the crib. After cutting one of mine I wound up needing to fabricate one of my own(PAIN!). What is it with the way stuff is packaged these days?? Do packaging engineers get off frustrating purchasers of their products who want to just simply open a box and use it??? O.K., rant off... I've only had this soother for a couple weeks, but so far I love it. The thing I like most is the colors; they're very rich and vivid. The music isn't bad(won't drive you nuts) and the movement of the animals is smooth. Battery life is O.K. so far(haven't needed replacement). All-in-all, short of the packaging, I would say this is a well assembled, well designed, quality item.
Customer Review: Fantastic and kids love it but LEAKS WATER! Summary: 1 Stars
We have had this product for 2 years and 10 months now but only used it for our daughter for about 1 year. Once we had no use for it anymore, we packed it up in a box with stuffed animals and put it on the top of my daughters closet. Just last week, we pulled it out because baby #2 will be here late June only to discover all the stuffed animals wet and the soother leaking. We called Fisher Price and since "it wasn't within the 1 year warranty for workmanship" they did nothing for us. C'mon?! You just put it in a box for 2 years and it's going to break? Doesn't sound like quality to sent us $10 to make us happy but I told Fisher Price WE ARE NOT HAPPY. Obviously they know their product is shady if they send $10. Product was never dropped, misused, etc. They did go into labs reports about it being 98.4% water and certified non-toxic. It's "gel-like". Buyer beware.
Customer Review: Pretty good! Summary: 4 Stars
This (and the cloud b lady bug) are the only light up plastic toys we have for our son. I don't use it to soothe him to sleep (although he did fall asleep to it today) so I can't attest to the complaints regarding the lights being too bright. We primarily use it to entertain our four month old when I am trying to get dressed or something equally important. We have had it for about three months and haven't needed to change the batteries - but we also don't use it everyday or for long periods of time. He likes it: watches the motion and has successfully turned it on by himself several times. We actually call it his 'TV' - we don't watch TV, and have cancelled all cable service, so this is the closest thing to a TV he will have for a while. I can't think of any negatives, other than that this product is made of plastic (and not safe BPA free plastics either).
Customer Review: Blinded by the light... Summary: 3 Stars
I have both this product and the Fisher-Price Aquarium, which overall has received worse reviews. I actually like the aquarium better, mostly because the light is not blinding. I turned on the blue light in a dark room last night and was, as the famous song goes, "blinded by the light". My 5 month old was squinting and turned away as she too was startled.
However, I do agree with the reviewers who said that the music quality, visuals, etc. are wonderful, which is why I gave it 3 stars.
I don't know whether this will work for us as a soother though because if and when my baby learns to turn it on by herself in the middle of the night (as my son has done with the aquarium), I worry that it will cause her to awaken and startle her b/c of the brightness of the light (and I really want to use the light option and not just the music).
Customer Review: a must have Summary: 5 Stars
We received this item as a gift for our son from someone who loved it for their own child. It has been excellent. Before our son was old enough to turn it off and on, we could turn it on for him and he'd fall asleep watching it. Now that he is old enough to do it himself, he'll turn it on if he's having trouble falling asleep or if he wakes up and can't fall back asleep. It allows for my husband and I to get a little more sleep in the morning as some days he'll turn it on, cuddle in his blanket and watch it as he slowly wakes himself up. He had to spend some time in the hospital for multiple surgeries and it was the first item they put in his hospital room to make him feel at home. The nurse said they are the greatest thing for making these kids feel more comfortable out of their home settings. I highly recommend it.
