Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-Boo Soother

Customer Review: Love it, needs a few improvements though
Summary: 4 Stars

This was a gift for my daughter and she LOVES it. She's mezmerized by the lights and movement and will cry when it turns off (she's still too little to reset herself). The characters are cute, the waterfall is very calming (even my husband and I stare at it), and the music and noises are very nice and relaxing.

I do think it has a few areas of improvement. 1) The straps are really hard to get on. 2)The timer is way too short - I am always having to reset it for my daughter 3)It would be nice if it could be positioned higher. The instructions say 7" between soother and mattress is necessary which means that it has to go on the head of the crib instead of the side until my baby is old enough where I reposition the height of the mattress. So, unless she is positioned sideways she really doesn't get to see it well.

I really do like this item and it has been a lifesaver getting our little one to fall asleep in the crib (she's 10 weeks old now and has been using this for a month). I highly recommend it!

Customer Review: cute and baby loves it
Summary: 5 Stars

Baby is 6 weeks old, but he watches this intently! I love the little characters and the sounds and lights too. Great that you can change the volume settings and even the options for lights/movement/sound. The light is pretty bright, but not a harsh light since it is mostly blue color. I think as my son grows he will be more and more interested in this. The straps are a little cumbersome to connect but once you get them strapped I don't think this puppy is going anywhere!
***UPDATE: Baby is now 13 weeks old and still loves this soother. We use it every night as part of the bedtime routine. Lights go out, this comes on. It is low light but enough to get a good latch for nursing or change a diaper without having to turn on a bright light that will bother your (or your baby's) eyes at 4am. On the movement setting it only stays on for about 5 minutes but with the lights and music it stays on about 15. You can press the button to turn it off early though which I like. ***

Customer Review: My 18-mo-old loves this!
Summary: 4 Stars

We were given this as a shower gift. I immediately attached it to my son's crib, but didn't start using it right away. Now, expecting our second child, I think I will try it sooner. Around 4 or 5 months of age, I started turning this on, and my son really enjoyed it. As he grew, he eventually became able to turn it off and on by himself. Now, if he wakes up in the middle of the night and I have to go in, I can gently remind him to turn on his music if he needs to. Very often, after I put him back down and leave the room, he ends up turning it on and falling back to sleep. We recently transitioned him to a twin bed and have a headboard with rails, so I was able to attach the soother to his new bed....he loves it! Definitely want to get one for his sibling. Only downfall is that it is rather difficult to attach. I also agree that it might be nice if there was a dimmer switch to adjust the level of light. However, the light doesn't seem to keep my son awake at all.

Customer Review: Bedtime lifesaver
Summary: 5 Stars

My son started using this when he was about 2 months old and still uses it at both nap and bedtimes and he is now over 5 months old. I shudder to think of how we might have gotten along without it! The soother always grabs his attention and lulls him into sleeps. Both the music and the lights are fantastic. Occasionally I will press the button for a second round if he is really fighting his sleep but usually one hit does the trick. Before he was sleeping through the night when he would wake up in the early hours of the morning one round of the soother and replacing his pacifier always put him out again. Other reviewers have said that the light is too bright but my son often likes to look around at his crib etc. before he falls asleep so the light is just perfect because if it is too dark in the room he often cries longer. Overall I'd say that this item is a must have for any baby!

Customer Review: Returned twice....
Summary: 1 Stars

I was not satisfied with this product, no fault of Amazon, but from the manufacturer. When i received it and opened it up, there was a residue on the clear plastic front of the rainforest soother. I tried to clean it off(couldn't really tell if it was on the outside of the plastic front or inside) but it would not come off. I shipped it back to Amazon and within days they had a replacement out to me. But, on the replacement, it had the same issue, so i mailed it back again and Amazon promptly refunded me. I ended up finding this toy at a local store(although at a higher price) that did not have the residue on it. So, while i'm unhappy with having to go through the trouble of returning it twice, Amazon did a good job getting me a replacement then a refund very quickly. The Rainforest soother is great-i bought it for one of my twins(the other has the fisher price aquarium) and he LOVES it!!
