Customer Review: Safety concerns but it is a great toy with direct nonstop supervision
Summary: 2 Stars

My twin 1 year old grandsons like this toy a lot. The colors intrigue them, the means to make music is simple with the spinning the wheel, the sound volume is not overwhelming (thank you on that one Fisher-Price).

I would give it a five, but the edge along the back of the toy is MUCH SHARPER than I would like. If struck hard enough would leave a nasty bruise, I fear it could even cause a cut if in a boney area like the forehead. I'm used to FP toys to be safe without having to have nonstop view of what the boys are doing, this one if I take my eye off it for a few seconds they have it upside down exposing that sharp edge. Needless to say the boys don't get a lot of time with this toy.

We have lots of other FP items, in the 40 years I can remember dealing with FP I don't remember a safety concern with appropriate use with any other toy. A little bit of rounding that edge or using a softer plastic for the back would take care of this concern. I hope FP will improve this so check it out if you are in the market for such a toy.

Customer Review: perfect toy

I have been trying to find toys for my 7 month old that make some noise but are not too irritating for parents. Found it! Now I just wish that I had bought this 5 months ago. My seven month old just loves it and it took him no time at all to figure it out. It is really easy for him to use, the rolling is ideal for babies instead of the simple banging. And I can well imagine that this would suite a babies from maybe 2 to 3 months and up. As I said, wish I had bought it few months ago to get more lifetime out of it. On the negative. To my musical ear I wish they had used 8 notes and have them from e.g. C to C. The 5 notes don't really make a nice musical instrument. But then I guess it would have been too bulky. I guess you can't have it all. But so far the best music toy I have found for babies.

Customer Review: Great Developmental Toy!
Summary: 5 Stars

Im not sure why so many people are complaining.
Yes there is a bit of a learning curve AT first. But everything is a learning curve for a baby.
It took about a week for my daughter (3 months at the time) to roll it fast enough to make noise. Shes 8 months now and runs up to it and bats at it with glee.
And to whom ever said the notes were off. You need to try them out at the store. Not all of them are in tune. I think it has something to do with the different widths of metal.
But with that said its a fairly cheap toy ( i think i payed 14 dollars at walmart), what do you expect? Its still great quality though.

I've since then, purchased three more for other babies and only heard great reviews back.

Customer Review: Excellent Easy Entertaining Toy!

This little Rainforest piano is so ideal for little hands that don't have great fine motor control yet. Gone are the days of hitting the Xylophone style bars with a beater. Now its all done with one bat of the hand. The wheels have a little pin on which as the wheel is rotated is pushed out with the centrifugal force hitting the corresponding xylophone note. There are five different notes. (please note it does not play whole tunes.)
My eight month old has had this since February and loves it. He is somewhat puzzled that he cant take the giraffe and the monkey off and spends ages trying to do so, and will bat at the wheels for quite some time to make the sounds. Another great idea from the Fisher Price Rainforest Range.

Customer Review: almost perfect

My daughter is diagnosed with Down Syndrome and is low tone. She has minimal upper body strength and at 7 months is unable to sit up without assistance. This roller piano is great. She actually uses her fingers to roll the keys. There is a reward for her action because of the music. There are too few of these toys available. The only improvement that can be made is if there was a leg or something to prop it up higher so that when she sits up she will be motivated to stay in an upright position.
