Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym

Customer Review: FOOLISHNESS
Summary: 1 Stars

This gym was absolute rubbish for my 3 months old baby. He got so bored within the next day it arrived. For the first 20 minutes he was laughing and reaching towards the things spinning over his head; to encourage him I put one of them in his hand and he was fine but then he started to get fussy. I took him out and gave him a break. In the evening I put him back on the mat, he looked at it for awhile, then he started to get fussy again; the next day the same thing. He love his music swing from fisher price, that's the only thing I have so far that keeps him quiet.Anywyas, all this gym does was play music with 4 little flickering lights. I expected the things over the lights to spin, it did not. I expected more for the price I paid for it. I would not recommend this item. This is foolishness, a rip off this thing is worth $10, that is my honest opinion; $10 or less.

Customer Review: Fantastic playmat!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter LOVED this play mat: we received it as a shower gift. I put it together myself (I am not good at assembling) in less than 15 minutes at the point where I was still getting very little sleep. My daughter played with it from 8 weeks to 9 months. She loved being on her back and staring at the lights. The orange monkey toy was the first toy she was able to hold by herself.

Once she was able to roll over she loved moving to the music and kicking/swatting the toys. The arches are very sturdy. The mat is machine washable. The music is sweet and not annoying like many musical toys. At 8 months I took the arches down and she sat up on the play mat to play with other toys. She is now 14 months and although the play mat is in the closet, she still plays with the orange monkey and elephant rattle. GREAT gift or registry item! Highly recommend!

Customer Review: Great Play Mat, very few complaints
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this play mat after looking at several and I am glad we decided to pay a little extra and get this one. My son loves laying on it and watching the lights and looking at himself in the small mirror. When it is time for tummy time he likes to scoot himself across the mat since it is much easier to scoot across than the carpet. The only complaints that I have about this mat is that it eats up batteries fairly quickly, I use the swing more than this play mat and I have had to replace the batteries in that much less than this mat. Also there is a small tiger on the mat that has a tail that protrudes from the mat and my son likes to put it in his mouth and suck on it, and it was just long enough to gag him so I cut it off. Other than those two things it has been great and I think it has held up very well so far. Would definately buy it again!

Customer Review: Well worth the money
Summary: 5 Stars

There are two versions of this play gym, one with and one without music and lights. I have owned both and the musical one is superior. My preemie grandson took to this right away, and remained interested until he was ten months old.

There's a second use for this toy. It's sturdy enough for him to pull himself to stand! Yes, with supervision, as it does "cave-in" a little, but he's so excited to actually touch the butterflies that entranced him for so long. Now, he sees where the lights come from, and tries to work the on/off buttons himself. (He's a very hands-on baby)

You can buy extra rings to attach other toys, or just change the positions of them.

As long as you aren't bothered by the pole coming out of the giraffe's head, this is the perfect addition to any nursery. You can't go wrong with this one.

Customer Review: 2 month old is pleased
Summary: 4 Stars

I did a lot of research on play mats and decided that the Fisher Price Rainforest Gym was the best in my price range. I have not been disappointed. My daughter is now 2 months old and she has loved playing on the gym since she was 3 weeks old. Her favorite features (so far) are the lights, music, elephant rattle, and tucan. She loves to bat at the elephant rattle and kick the tucan at the same time. The music plays for quite awhile and is not annoying. I am giving the product four stars instead of five for three reasons. 1 - The music on one of the settings makes strange pauses. 2 - Two of the music settings seem to be identical. 3 - What is the point of the butterflies? They are on a spinner, but don't spin automatically. Other than those points, this gym is great. My daughter will be getting lots of use out of it in the next several months.
