Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care High Chair

Customer Review: He loves it!
Summary: 5 Stars

Which means I love it! I can put my five-month-old grandson in the high chair at times other than meals for a different level of gazing and a different sort of play. I find it easy to roll although the locks can be easily hit with your feet. I would rather it be easy to lock though than unlock - it just makes me more careful about unlocking the wheels. I like the tray with the compartments - it is easy to take on and off from the outside which stops it from being inadvertently pushed off. Tray cleans well. And lastly, I like the different heights that can be set. Makes feeding easy for all different people - my 6'5" son and me at 5'2". Very nice all in all!

Customer Review: Functional but too many issues to recommend
Summary: 2 Stars

We got this highchair right before my 16 1/2 month old daughter was born in 2008. It was easy to assemble and I was excited to have it. But after using it for the last 15 months or so, I'm not that impressed. First of all, the wheels don't swivel like they should and therefore have left hundreds of marks in my laminate floor. We have to lift the front or back of the chair to get the wheels to swivel so that they are lined up properly to roll. They do swivel a little better on the linoleum in the kitchen, but still not as it should. Next is the tray. The tray does not give me a good sense of security when my daughter is in the highchair. Actually, there have been several times when either my husband or myself have tried to slightly lift the front of the tray to get the wheels properly aligned or over an area rug and the tray has literally just popped off! Once my daughter even tried to pull herself up to look to see what was on the tray and it came off and smacked her in the face. I try to use the straps whenever possible just to be on the safe side. The padding and straps are removable, which is conveinent, but once you remove the padded seat there are so many cracks and crevises for the food to fall in that my husband has actually had to take the chair outside to hose it down. The simple solution to this would be for them to make plastic little covers for where the seat attaches to the frame to keep food out. Also, where there is stitching on the seat is where liquids leak through to the bottom of the chair, which makes clean-up difficult. I HIGHLY recommend removing the whole pad at least once a week to was out the plastic shell of the chair where all the food will be accumulated, especially since the chair padding isn't attached to the seat on the side, which always leads to food being dropped between the pad and the plastic chair.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good things about this chair as well, such as the removable tray insert is dishwasher safe, but when you use the insert you still have to wash the whole tray because there is nothing to stop my little one from putting her hands on the side and the bottom of the tray. Also, the bottom of the tray has many sections for her to stick her dirty little hands and then it's hard to clean them out without putting the whold tray in the bathtub. The straps are over the shoulder and through the legs which is great so that my daughter can't just climb out, but without throwing the straps in the washing machine they're hard to get clean. I LOVE the fact that the chair itself both reclines and adjusts up and down. I had the chair in the furtherest most reclined position for my daughter when she was really little. It was a great place to put her while we ate. And on the occasion that she falls asleep in her highchair I can just recline it and let her sleep for awhile. I can also remove the tray, lower the height of the seat and push her right up to the table. However, the wheel locks don't stop her from pushing the highchair away from the table and therefore putting more marks in my floor.

I think with some improvements this highchair would be great, but as it is currently being made I just can't recommend it.

Customer Review: Solid and Cheerful
Summary: 5 Stars

It took an hour to put together, but it seems very sturdy. The seat cover makes you want to smile, and the toys are terrific.

This replaces a hand-me-down highchair at Grandma's house, for a 17 month old. Any old thing will do for tiny babies, but once they are 20+ pounds and 'Houdinis', the appreciation comes for the way this high chair is made.

Have always loved Fisher Price products, and this one will surely be used for lots of years. It is worth every penny.

Customer Review: Durable and Easy to Clean
Summary: 5 Stars

We got ours about 3 years ago for our oldest. This high chair is incredibly easy to (thoroughly) clean! The seat is molded so that your child cannnot fall through, even if unharnessed. (Harness is absolutely necessary once they can wriggle and support their weight with their legs - as with any high chair!) Both of our girls love/d playing with the included toy. It's got blinking lights, interesting colors and animals, and plays short/long tunes (you choose) and has volume control. It is NOT annoying with the noise at all! I'm a picture Mom, and the vibrant colors on this chair make for a good background of sorts. You can let your little one eat and play with messy food and things to their heart's content. Then you can clean it all up with ease. This is a great high chair!

Customer Review: excellent high chair
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an excellent high chair. I would have given it five stars if it folded to stow away the way I was expecting it to. My 10 month old daughter sits in comfortably... the backrest is adjustable so one can feed the baby at an angle if required.... the wheels are very efficient and the adjustable height makes it very useful to feed the baby at the dining table or near the couch.. Really there is very little wrong in this High chair and so far it is holding out well
