Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Deluxe Auto MirrorCustomer Review: I love this mirror!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mirror when my son was 4 weeks old. I'm a first time mom, and the idea of my son being in the backseat facing backward in my SUV, and me not being able to him him made me nervous. Having this mirror eased all my fears. I can see his entire body, and not just his head. My son is now 13 weeks. I haven't had to replace the batteries yet....and we use it a lot!
Every time I place my son in his carseat, he looks at himself in the mirror and giggles. I had no problem getting it into my SUV. The carseat is in the middle seat, and I also have no problems seeing over it. I have tinted windows, and we can see the "light show" day or night. Also....I live in South Florida, and My car sits outside all day long......the summer heat has had no affect on this product.
Customer Review: a mixed blessing Summary: 3 Stars
My son (2 months old) loves this toy. He seems to be facinated by almost anything that has flashing lights and makes music. I'm not so fond of it. I like the mirror and being able to see my son. But it doesn't install well. If we hit a big bump in the car, it can knock the mirror out of adjustment. The remote won't stay on the visor and it had to be in just the right position to work. I can live with those. But if I have to hear a rather metalic sounding version of THE WHEELS ON THE BUS followed by MY GRANDFATHERS CLOCK much longer, I may scream! The musical selections are less than wonderful, and the arrangements are awful! It keeps my son happy, so I can't complain. But I generally leave the toy on lights only mode and supplement with my own music on CD.
Customer Review: Great For Entertaining Baby But Bad For SUV's Summary: 3 Stars
My little girl hates her car seat and this little gadget works about 70% of the time. She loves to follow the lights. I had really wanted this toy so I could check on my little girl when it's just the two of us but I can't see her. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer and because the middle seat doesn't have a headrest it's not high enough for me to see her in the rear view mirror. I was pretty disappointed. It does keep her occupied though so if your baby is fussy or screaming like mine it may work for you. The remote is handy because you can turn it off when your baby falls asleep and save batteries and turn it back on when she wakes up. If you have an SUV or car that doesn't have a headrest though, you won't be able to see your baby.
Customer Review: Not a Wonderful Mirror Summary: 2 Stars
I really love having a mirror in the back seat so that I can keep my son in view. I gave our first mirror to my parents after we bought this one and have regretted it ever since. I do like the shape of the mirror. I can see my son better than I could before. However I spent quite a bit of $$$ because of the lights and the music. Not worth it at all. There is only one song which just repeats itself over and over, driving everyone in the car crazy. The lights do not help you see the baby at all. The mirror also scratched a lot when I put the batteries in, so now I can't see my son after dark even with the interior car lights on. I was really disappointed with this mirror, but would suggest the basic version that Fisher Price offers.
Customer Review: Didnt like it Summary: 2 Stars
I didnt like this mirror. I am planning on returning it.
First I am petit and there is no way I can place the mirror in a way where I can look at the baby and at the same time see the road behind. I have to get up a little bit from the seat and then pull back the car seat canopy, only to see a blurred image of my baby. Of course I can only do this when I am at a light and not driving, which becomes painfull when I am on the highway.
Second, its cool you can set the mirror to music, lights, or both. Problem is you can not control this with the remote, so if you are tierd of the music, you'll have to switch it of! instead of putting on the lights on only....
I will look the other ones.
