Customer Review: A Pox on Impulse Purchases!
Summary: 1 Stars

We're going on a vacation soon, and I wanted to debut this mirror as a new toy for my infant twins to enjoy on the long car trip. I don't usually go in for toys that light up and/or play electronic music, but I figured that under the circumstances it might be a nice treat for the babies. It was an impulse purchase while I was at the store stocking up for the trip.

Tonight, I loaded the batteries into the remote and the mirror, and pressed the button on the remote just to see what we were in for in terms of the music. Nothing happened. I checked the switch and the volume; again, nothing happened. I checked the batteries, and switched some batteries out for other ones. Still nothing.

Convinced that I must be doing something wrong, I called the 800 number on the box. Once I was transferred to the customer service department, the operator made sure I'd checked the batteries and switched it on properly. After confirming that I'd taken these steps, she told me that they would be FedExing me a new product within a few days, along with a label so that I could return my original to them without cost. I was surprised at how quickly they offered to replace the product until I read the reviews on Amazon! Apparently, lots of folks have problems with it and rather than fix the flaws or design a product that actually works 100% of the time, it's easier just to mail out replacements.

A pox on impulse purchases! I wanted this mirror for a trip we'll be on when the replacement product arrives. If I'd done the homework I usually do I would *never* have bought this lousy thing in the first place. Ugh.

Fisher-Price is no longer a trusted name, as far as I'm concerned. The product rates one star only because I couldn't give it zero.

Customer Review: OK, but we're on our 4th one!
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a great idea, but it needs a little tweeking. THe mirror is a great size and that make it very easy to see you lieel one...all of your little one. The lights and music are great and our daughter looks them. The lights work best at night or in a car with some window tinting becasue they really aren't all that bright. The remote wonderful! It makes it so easy to activate.

Now for why we're on our 4th one....

First didn't work at all.

Second the clip broke on the remote when we put it on the visor. They show it on the visor but the clip is really narrow.

Third got this film on it when I tried to cleam a smudge. Scratches and smudges DO NOT come off this thing...no matter what you do. The wierd film didn't look that bad when you were right up on it. But when you tried to use it, it created a terrible glare.

The forth one has been great so far. We left the protective film over the mirror and we leave the remote in the ash tray. Another flaw that we have found is that it's a pain to use in a car just because of the way it has to set up. It honestly never hooked right in our Altima. But it works great in seats of our Jeep and Durango. As for the safety of the mirror in a crash, we are able to hook it to one of the latch hooks in both SUV's and once the strap is tightened, it can't get to her even if we crashed. The firefighter that inspected her seat said it was perfect.

So in short, Fisher Price has a great idea (that our daughter loves)but it still needs just a little work to earn 5 stars.

Customer Review: Definitely NOT WORTH the aggrivation!!! Grrrrr....

I'm reading the previous reviews and i'm getting more irritated because they are all true!! And this mirror wasnt cheap! Pros first. You get light and (annoying) music with a remote. You get a decent sized mirror. Cons next.

1. The MIRROR SCRATCHES VERY easily, just try and breath on it and wipe. It WILL scratch.

2. The mirror CAN NEVER be SECURELY FASTENED to your car unless you are McGuyver and fashion some way to do it yourself and for the price why should i have to do that? I have leather seats so i can't pin it.

3. SO the mirror is very wobbly its all a balancing act. Sure it had a metal like adjustment in the back but its like a coathanger inside a piece of cloth. Just bend it to adjust but it still DOES'NT STAY IN PLACE.

4. My baby freaks out now becuz the MUSIC gets REPETATIVE and ANNOYING. So i have to constantly re-adjust the mirror after he's kicked it around.

5. My remote works (would this be another PRO? wow woopee). But if you don't remember to shut off the lights/sounds feature on the mirror itself it will drain the batteries very quickly. No more nighttime show. Not good.

6. Even with fresh batteries the volume goes from nonexistant to a something you can hear...but nothing in between. What's the point of having volume control? It might as well just be on or off.

I hate this thing but i leave it in becuz i can see my baby. Just save your money and get a basic one. Buy this for a shower gift only if you secretly can't stand the recipient.

Customer Review: NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this mirror in December because I had a friend with the same mirror who gushed about what a lifesaver the lights and sounds could be, especially at night. Installed it into my car in February (didn't need it before then) and used it with no problems up until April. Then it stopped working. I changed the batteries in the remote (a different size than the batteries for the mirror, btw, which is annoying)-- the remote light would come on, but the mirror would not. I started doing some research online and saw where several people had had similar problems and even found a few who claimed that the batteries in their mirrors had exploded or leaked. I went back and looked at the batteries I had removed from the mirror and sure enough, they had leaked. My car's back seats flip down for storage and when I looked I saw that battery acid had dripped from the mirror onto the seat of my car, leaving a small hole. Imagine if it had dripped onto my child instead!! I called Fisher Price customer service and was told to contact Blue Ridge instead, as they are the manufacturers and purchased the name/design from FP. I have left several messages with Blue Ridge and have not received a response. I have found DOZENS of similar cases online and am amazed that this mirror has not yet been recalled. The idea is great, my son loved it when it worked, but the idea that he could have gotten splashed with battery acid is simply apalling. I can only hope that enough people complain about this mirror to FP that they will finally recall it.

Customer Review: I'd give this six stars if I could
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked this up at Walmart because I needed a mirror to see my daughter while I was driving. I bought it because it was cute, and it looked like it would be interesting to her. I remember thinking that the sounds and lights would probably be a useless feature, but I love the rainforest pattern so I bought it anyway. I finally put the thing in the car about a month later when we were making the four-hour trek to Houston (her first long-ish car trip). She started getting fussy so I figured I'd give it a shot. Wow. That thing put her to sleep almost instantly. I was amazed. I was also impressed by battery life. We've been using it for almost a year and I think I've changed the batteries three times. Three. And I only use it when I need it, but it's seen plenty of action. I'm pretty pleased with battery usage, even with lights and sounds running. Now that she's closing in on a year, it doesn't put her to sleep anymore, but she still loves dancing to it and it has kept her occupied during 1400+ mile road trips. I really wish this had been available when our older two were babies. Our whole family jokes around about the wonders of 'the green button'. We never make a long trip without it, and I always make sure I pack extra batteries, just in case. Quite possibly the best $20 I've spent in baby products this time around.
