Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Rainforest Bouncer

Customer Review: Nice, but may bring on COLIC Warning
Summary: 3 Stars

MAY and I stress MAY bring on COLIC in young babies?? This is not scientific, but here's what happened.
6 week old baby very happy and content. Sat her in this and she loved it, watched and listened, vibrated and went right off to sleep.

She started having colic that night. We went a week, with dr visits, simethicone treatments and all of the soothing things, including this vibrating chair. Which still put her to sleep.

She had suddenly become an agitated, angry baby. We stopped using this for a few days, for other reasons, and she settled down. I put her right back into this seat with the vibrations and music and lights. She reacted positively to the stimulus, but was right back to screaming, this time she started within 20 minutes!

I made suggestions about not using it, but she was put into this a day later, with the same results. Nice calm happy baby, to agitated and crying.

She has not been vibrated for 3 days and she's back to happy camper. She is off of the simethicone, now for 2 days.

I cannot hardly beleive these results myself. I'm thinking that at a later date, and age, perhaps the vibrations would come in handy. I don't know and won't really risk that.

I'm sure that for most babies, this vibration might be a blessing, but I have witnessed this, so thought I should pass it along.

It is well made, and easy to bring into other rooms to keep her near. We like everything else about it.

Our baby just might be a little to sensitive to the vibrations? Maybe not!

Customer Review: HANDY HELPER
Summary: 5 Stars

AS A MOM WHO SPOILS HER KIDS ROTTEN (YES, I KNOW ITS NOT THE BEST IDEA) THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THEY WANT TO BE HELD AND I CAN'T, EVEN THOUGH I WISH I COULD. THIS BOUNCER HAS BEEN FABULOUS. MY 10 WEEK OLD LOVES IT! IT IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE AND INTERACTIVE. WE LOVE THE RAINFOREST SOUNDS AND THE SWEET MUSIC. YOU HAVE CHOICES AS WELL, SO IT ISN'T ALWAYS MUSICAL. YOU CAN HAVE THE MUSIC AND SOUND, CHOOSE TO HAVE THE SOUNDS AND BABY CAN MAKE THE MUSIC COME ON BY PLAYING WITH THE CUTE LITTLE PARROT AND MONKEY TOYS OR YOU CAN JUST HAVE THE VIBRATION ON OR EVEN HAVE IT OFF AS WELL. THERE IS A VOLUME CONTROL AS WELL. THE PAD IS ALSO VERY SOFT AND COMFY FOR BABY. IT ALSO IS VERY BOUNCY WHEN BABY KICKS AND PLAYS SO IT SIMULATES A SWING TYPE MOTION, MY LITTLE ONE GETS SO EXCITED WHEN HE BOUNCES HIMSELF AND HIS LITTLE FACE LIGHTS UP WHEN HE HITS THE MONKEY OR BIRD AND THE MUSIC STARTS UP (WHEN IN INTERACTIVE MODE). I PUT THE BOUNCER TOGETHER IN ABOUT 3 MINUTES WITH A PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW DRIVER, SUPER EASY! IT REQUIRES 4 D BATTERIES, AND I HAVEN'T NOTICED IT SUCKING BATTERY POWER TOO BAD. WE HAVE USED IT PRETTY OFTEN SINCE GETTING IT LAST WEEK AND HAVEN'T REPLACED THE BATTERIES OR NOTICED SLOW DOWN...THANK GOODNESS! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE, MY BABY IS 10 WEEKS AND 15 POUNDS, SO WE HAVE ABOUT 10 POUNDS OF PLAY TO GO AND I WILL DEFINITELY KEEP THIS BOUNCER FOR FUTURE BABIES, ITS GREAT. AND IF BUYING ON AMAZON, I PURCHASED ON A BABY SALE MONDAY, PLUS BEING A MEMBER OF AMAZON MOM I GOT FREE 2 DAY SHIPPING AND I HAD A COUPON CODE SO I GOT THE BOUNCER FOR ABOUT $35.00! WHAT A DEAL!

Customer Review: I Don't Really Love This One - Could Be Better
Summary: 2 Stars

I have to say I don't really love this one. My daugther who came with me to register for my shower was really wanting this for her little brother. I was really wanting the Baby Papasan bouncer because it looked much more cozy and comfortable. I should have gone with my gut feeling on this. First of all, I think that for a new baby this is much too upright. You cannot adjust that part of the bouncer at all. It is just really upright and that's all there is to it. They should have really considered that there would be very young babies in this because after all, that's the time when you need a bouncer the most. Also, I feel like it was way too stimulating at times. My other kids would come and turn it on while my son was in it and everything would go off at once. Also, the little red frog on here was so annoying. It gets stuck and just clicks and clicks. You really can't fix it. Finally, my daughter did something to it and it has stopped. I could not figure out how to make it stop though. My son does seem to like the monkey and the parrot, but as he got older I felt like he got a little more frustrated because they are always "in his way." When he is in this there is so much stimulation going on and he cannot see over the bar to interact with anyone. I hardly ever use the bar any more, but I still just wish that I had registered for a different one. Not a great product, I feel like Fisher-Price could have done more with this instead of just adding every toy and sound they could to it, not to mention your little baby is practically sitting up like a full on adult.

Customer Review: Great for feeding solid foods to babies with acid reflux
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this bouncer a few months ago for my daughter who is now five months old. My baby girl was born with acid reflux, and like any baby who suffers from this, the doctor has recommended to start solid foods quite early, around the age of three months. This chair is very helpful for a baby who cannot yet use the high chair due to the fact that she cannot yet hold her head properly. However, because it is a bouncer the heavier the baby the more the chair sits reclined and this is where my suggestion is. My baby wighs a healthy 17 lbs.

Maybe, for a future generation of these kind of chairs, Fisher Price could use two vertical removable bars on both sides of the chair which can be mounted at the time of feeding keeping the chair higher up and also stopping it from bouncing during feeding.

Currently, in my case, I have already found a solution. I have a corner couch and at feeding time I place the chair on the corner of the couch and push it as close as possible to the back of the couch. In this way the back of the bouncing chair is resting against the back of the couch at the desired high angle and and of course it stops it from bouncing. Also, doctors recommends for babies with acid reflux to always lay at a raised angle, and even after feeding I keep my daughter like this for another 30 minutes before she can bounce happily away. Since I do this, her acid reflux situation has improved considerably, she doesn't get hiccups like she used to and she has no more regurgitation.

Customer Review: Good bouncing seat...but the pros end there...
Summary: 1 Stars

I'll make this short for you...buy a different bouncer. My son loves to bounce in this chair, but he can bounce in a $19 chair just as good as this almost $50 one. When I say bounce, I mean I gently bounce him in the chair...the chair is way to boring for him to get excited enough to bounce it on it's own.

The bar does not snap off easily...you have to snap off each side at the same time to make it come off easily, otherwise it is a struggle. The vibrating function is LOUD. The so called activity bar is lame, in my opinion. You can't make it stay on...it is only activated by shaking it. The angle on it is also poorly designed unless your baby is just the right size (and they are only that "right" size for a short time since they grow so quickly when they are little). The hanging toys hang way too low for baby to actually see...they are so low that they pretty much hang on baby's lap.

I am very frustrated with Fisher Price and their Rainforest bouncer because they are one of the few companies out there with this design (the Rainforest collection) that is actually designed for baby and not moms wanting something to look good in their living room. Pastels are pointless for babies at this age...you need reds, white, black...bright colors contrasting with eachother in simple patterns. Fisher Price is almost there with the Rainforest collection, but they fell short on this bouncer. I now have a $45 seat for my baby. YAY!!
