This tub works really well for newborns. Even when they can't yet sit up or support their heads, the ingenious "bump" design at the bottom of the tub prevents them from slipping down into the water -- this allows you to take one hand off the baby to grab a washcloth or more soap. (Otherwise you need eight hands to bathe a baby!?) It's also great for diaper rash, since you can soak the baby's bottom for a while in a little warm water (the best cure for diaper rash). We went with this tub, rather than one with a "newborn sling," since the slings seem precarious and their use a little short-lived.
By the way, we bought it for less at a local store, so I would look around for a better deal. (And you're not necessarily limited to Fisher Price, since I see there are similar tubs made by other brands... but none as cute!)

This is a fantastic tub! Very durable and sturdy. It's made of pretty heavy duty plastic. It will last thru many many kids. I like that it has the removable orange piece that can easily be taken out when your baby is starting to sit up in the tub (I pulled it out right on the spot when giving my little one a bath because I realized that it was time). I like how the back is cushioned so that the baby is not laying on hard plastic. My only complaint with this tub is the drain hole. It's positioned in a very odd spot which makes draining cumbersome. Tilting the water towards the drain doesn't get the water all the way out, so you end up turning the whole tub over in the sink to drain it. The hole should be placed in a different spot to allow the water to drain completely. Other than that, it's a perfect tub! :)Customer Review: LOVED this!

This is the first time I have left a review on anything, but I really LOVED bathing my daughter in this tub. She was so happy in it! And I felt like it was very safe. There is a green little "seat" that is in the tub that keeps them from sliding down into deeper water, but she is still in enough water to splash around and keep warm. When she got old enough to sit up on her own, she loved to sit in the deeper tub part and splash around. It was perfect to fit over the sink, and the drain hole in the bottom was perfect. We definatly got tons of use out of it... we only stopped using it when she was strong enough to start crawling out of it, so we moved to our normal bathtub. I loved this tub, and am excited to use it for our next baby. I have also recommended it to many friends, and they have loved it as well!Customer Review: Best Purchase

This tub is great because:
-it fit in my sink
-it was stable on my mother's bathroom counter
-I forgot about the "legs" and use it in my tub now, with no stability issues
-it is easy to clean
-it worked well for my baby with the width, height, depth, and cushion
-it is still perfect for my large 18 month old so I don't have to fill an entire tub
-it's cute
-the orange fish is also easy to clean (no mold like in the squirter toys)
-the orange fish is strangely fun for my child
All of my friends got the summer infant one with the sling--the sling seems hard to clean and not easy to use. I have a hand-me-down of that one without the sling; it doesn't seem to fit my toddler well. The top-rated review pretty much says it all!

After trying sink bathing and bath tub bathing with no assistance I shopped around and decided on this tub. Wow! What a lifesaver! Our baby LOVES bathtime! A few months later we went to my SIL's house and didn't take it because she had 2 infant tubs from her baby shower (net yet used because she was still pregnant). First night I used one of hers and my baby cried during her whole bath from discomfort. The next night I used her other one and she cried again. The next day we went to the store and bought my SIL a Whale Tub and gave it to her (for her baby to have AND so ours could use it while we were there). Once again our baby lughed and played all through her bath.
We have since bought about a half dozen of these for various people! This is a fantastic product!
