I have been this swing for roughly 1 month and really like it. It holds a baby quite well and the various settings provided are ideal. The only problem I found with the swing is that the motor to the carousel with the stars and bear attached makes loud popping sounds upon completing a full rotation every time. This sound is very loud and startles the baby even when awake so you cannot operate it while a baby is sleeping.
We did exchange our swing for another one of the same brand and model but the replacement we received from Amazon has the same problem. It appears there is some defect with this line of the cradle swings. We have stopped using the carousel with the rotating stars, light and bear. Were it not for that dreadful popping sound I would have rated this item 5 stars.

This swing almost killed our daughter! At first we loved this swing for our newborn daughter, until at about age 4 months, she grabbed the netting and started sucking on it. The netting tore in to large pieces in her mouth. She had no teeth at this point. I heard her making choking noises and was horrified to find her mouth full of the fabric. She had swallowed some of it, and other peices were caught in her throat. She used to nap in the swing. If I hadn't been right there, she absolutely could have choked to death. Although we notified Fisher Price, and the CPSC, we never heard any follow up. We sent the netting to Fisher Price for them to analyze, but they never gave us any comment or explanation. We went around asking all of our friends the one thing that was a must have. They all answered a swing that was multi-directional. We picked the starlight papasan out originally for its looks and are now enjoying the perks of the swing it self. We love the fact that you can choose to battery operate or plug in and use the swing. Our daughter has loved it since day one and is now 2 months old and is still enjoying it. The only problem we have had which we thought something was wrong with the light and mobile was the netting had slipped out on one side and was catching the mobile which was cathcing and getting the mobile and lights stuck. A quick call to Fisher-Price customer service and she had us back up and running by placing the net back in its groove. Great swing we couldn't complain!Customer Review: Great for Newborn

I bought this when our newborn was 2 weeks old out of desperation for more than 1-2 hours of sleep at a time at night. It was a godsend. We were able to get our fussy newborn to sleep in the swing, and to sleep for about 3 hours at a time. The plug-in feature is also wonderful (save on those expensive D batteries!). It's also nice that you can turn off features your kid doesn't like (mine gets too stimulated by the stars and will never sleep when it's on). My only complaint (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that now that he's 2 months old, he's starting to lose interest, and it's kind of expensive for such limited use. Then again, at the time I purchased it from Amazon, I would have paid a lot more for the sleep. At the time, Amazon had the best price.Customer Review: Best swing ever!

We are loving this swing, from day one it has been a heaven for our 7 week old. We tried her in a plain Jane swing that didn't do much but, well, swing. She was bored in minutes.
This swing keeps her busy with sounds, lights, and mobile action. She has learned to track the mobile items well and loves the music when blended with the outdoor sounds.
We barely have to turn the swing on, but she also enjoys the swinging motion.
This swing also swings both forwards and back, as well as sideways, something I didn't even notice when I purchased it, so that was just a bonus.
Do yourself a favor and pick this swing up today. You will love it, and you will save a fortune on batteries, since it plugs into the wall!
