Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing - New Nature's TouchCustomer Review: Great overall Summary: 4 Stars
We received this swing secondhand. Our son, now 6 months, spent the majority of his naps in it and even sometimes overnight. About a month or so ago, he became bored (uncomfortable in?)with it so we put it away, but brought it back out again last week. He seems to still enjoy it and will nap occasionally there.
The pros:
*battery life- in 6 months we've changed the batteries 3 times. We didn't use the mobile a whole lot in the beginning because it scared him, so I'm not sure if that prolonged the life of the batteries.
*two seating positions
*the music/sounds are pretty good
*the lap bar is removable
*it's fairly easy to remove and clean the cover
*he loves the mirror
The cons:
*you only get 7 minutes of sounds or mobile movement at a time
*this thing has a huge footprint.. it barely fit in our bedroom
*even on the slowest speed, it swings fast.. we always use a light blanket dragging off it to slow it down, even now (he's average weight for his age)
*the toy bar is somewhat boring to my kiddo.. but I use the ring parts to hook toys on so it's not a huge deal
*the pillow part around the head is too small and should be removable
The other thing that brought me here to check on was the weight limit. My son is about 16 pounds or so and today started bouncing in the swing, up and down. He got it moving quite a bit so I thought I'd double-check to be sure he wasn't too heavy for it (apparently 25 pounds is the limit). He doesn't like how far back the swing is even in the upright position, so he sits straight up. I'm doubtful that bouncing is good for it, so it might be time to retire the swing (considering it's a loaner).
Overall, I would say this is definitely a good buy. The cons are just things some people would find irritating, so it depends on what you can deal with.
