Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium BouncerCustomer Review: Decent bouncer, but can be dangerous, don't recommend Summary: 2 Stars
We have two aquarium bouncers for our twin daughers. We have used these from the time we brought them home from the hospital. The two negatives that we have had is that we are constantly changing the batteries and if you have the aquarium and vibration mode on it is a bit noisy. This all would be fine as long as the babies are happy!! The main concern with the bouncer is that at 5 months are daughters began to throw themselves out of the bouncer. Since they were securely fastened in the seat they would be dangling over the side, fastened in the seat, and their head dangling to the ground. We have always been very cautious with these bouncers due to there is not any support on the sides. We had to go and buy two more bouncers for our twins because these were just too unsafe. We feel that safety is the main priority so I do NOT recommend this product. There are many bouncers out there that do provide satisfaction for your little one and provide safety. I wish that I would have returned mine in the beginning when we were concerned about the sides not having any support. I hope this review helps. We ended up having to buy four bouncers because of this and I hope this helps with your shopping decision! Good luck!! :-)
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY! Summary: 2 Stars
We have both the Fisher Price Aquarium Bouncer and the Fisher Price Kick and Play Bouncer. Our twins are seven weeks old and have been using these seats since they were about two weeks old. Between the two seats, I like the Kick and Play better. The seat is more concave and holds the baby in place better and the lap harness is wider and more cushioned. The music is fast and kind of annoying but each of the twins seem to enjoy it when they are wide awake and playful, and you can remove the music and lights bar when you don't want to use it.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THE AQUARIUM BOUNCER. The lap harness is too small and the straps rub directly against the babies skin and cause red marks on their legs. Also, the seat itself is too flat and does not hold the baby in place very well. One of the twins fell asleep in this seat and when she did her head turned to one side and shifted her body weight and SHE FELL OVER THE EDGE OF THE SEAT AND WAS HANGING IN MID AIR by the lap belt that was holding her in! Luckily, she is not heavy enough yet (only eight pounds) so the seat didn't tip over but I am very nervous now about putting either of the twins in this seat and probably will not use it when they get much bigger.
Customer Review: Pretty Good Bouncer Summary: 4 Stars
My twin girls (DOB 10/07/05) started to like this bouncer at about 7 weeks. We have been using this bouncer since they were just a few days old for them to sleep in because our cribs were on back order.
+++ They really enjoy watching the fish kiss and the star fish spin. They also get really excited when in the bouncer and move their legs and sometimes move the seahorse and fish. I now have the setting so that once they hit either the seahorse or fish the display panel makes music or bubbling sounds.
--- When they were only a few weeks old the seat was too ramrod straight. I actually put my own weight on the chair to push it down more. The seat belt is weird looking because the fabric portion is so small.
I don't know about any safety issues with this chair. It seems pretty sturdy to me. Yesterday we had nieces and nephews over. A couple of toddlers enjoyed sitting in the bouncer and the bouncer held its ground. We have two other bouncers (a safari bouncer) and we like the Aquarium Bouncer the best. The Safari Bouncer seems to sink in too much and who ever was in it seemed to scrunched...I get concerned about the babies posture/spine when in that bouncer.
Customer Review: Great bouncer but poor quality! Summary: 2 Stars
The only reason I have given this product 2 stars is because my son absolutely loves this bouncer, but it may just be that he would love any bouncer! Sure he enjoys the aquarium colors and the fishes but I think he would enjoy anything with color and the fact that he is upright. We have gone through 2 of these bouncers and had even ordered one for a friend for their baby shower, so we have seen 3 different pieces of this product and they were all defective and of extremely poor quality. The part with the lights and the bubbles and music is what always gets spoiled the first and that too within a month! In both the bouncers that we used the bubbles would start to get extremely loud and drown out the music and scare the baby. He loved to see the bubbles and lights and the fishes moving but the sound was just too loud! We returned the first one but still the same issue in the second one. And our friend tells us the same for her bouncer. And finally after a month or two the lights and noises just stop. It's not as if we have been treating that attachment badly but it just dies after a while. My advice is if you are buying this just think you are buying a bouncer without the attachment or buy another one.
Customer Review: Not the Best Bouncer Summary: 2 Stars
I am taking the time to write in about this because although Fisher Price is usually great, I am pretty frustrated with this "bouncy" seat. Here's why: 1) it only straps the baby in around the waist area, so it's not totally secure for the baby - mine tips sideways in it if she moves much. 2) The so-called "toy bar" is a joke; my baby, now 4 months, is frustrated that she can't reach the hanging plastic critters (or, of course, touch the cute creatures inside the "aquarium" part) - they hang just above her knees - too far for her hands and too high up for her feet to kick! Finally, 3) maybe it's just our baby, but she's not content just laying back; she wants to sit UP, and this seat won't let her, nor can it be adjusted to do so. 4) She hasn't figured out how to bounce on her own, and by the time she does, she'll probably already be sitting up, which is when Fisher-Price says it's time to discontinue use, anyway. I did appreciate having a place to plunk her for a few minutes, and the music/sound/ vibration options are great, but I wish we'd gotten a bouncy seat with hanging toys or a toy bar that our baby could reach. At 4 months, she's already pretty much outgrown this thing.
